How Lyme if immune system seems strong ?

If Lyme weakens the immune system I don't understand how I have it.. My Immune system seems strong because I barely get sick... It's the brain fog fatigue anxiety and a bunch of other neuro symptoms that's debilitating.

Mine was strong too but its obvious its not strong enough to have the brain fog, anxiety, and other neuro problems.
Its the lyme tell you "HERE I AM" Those symptoms were what i experienced long before I was actually sick.

I think I would still be living with these symptoms if I was not givin Prednisone for a rash on my hands. The steroid
in Prednisone kicked the lyme in high gear and boy oh boy brain fog and anxiety, and symptoms after symptom
just piling up one after another. Its the lyme playing tricks with you already compromised immune system.

You may think your immune system is strong just like I did, but it can sneak up on you quicker than you could imagine.

I was sick for 4 yrs with intense brain fog and anxitey and neuro issuses before really trying to figure it out, just thought
my body would take care of itself because I was so healthy.

I've had brain fog and anxiety for yrs now also... I am now 39 and at 19 starting having panic attacks out of no where. Now 20 yrs later here I am.. I took klonopin and Valium for like 16 yrs and thought it was the tolerance withdrawal from the pills... Ugghhhh I feel like I am screwed no matter what I do... When did you start treatment and what ?

My immune system held off Lyme for a very long time before the symptoms of anxiety, panic, and insomnia sent me to the doctor and I was diagnosed with Lyme.

This disease will find a way to thrive in your body. It hides in the spinal fluid and in your brain because your immune system has a hard time fighting it there.

What I found was that once I started treating the Lyme disease it brought out all sorts of physical symptoms that I had never had or only had briefly before. It makes it hard to continue treatment when you start to feel worse. But it is so worth it.

Now as I am nearing the end of treatment I am enjoying a very clear mind and settled spirit. It makes everything so much easier. I hope you get to that.

What was your protocol for treatment when you first started till now? I started on doxy 200 mgs a day almost 2 weeks ago.. Just wondering if that's enough and what else to add... I really need to find a llmd....

My treatment regimen is a little different from other people as I am allergic to the tetracyclines and penicillin related antibiotics. I have also been infected multiple times. This last treatment of a year has included Rifampin, then Clindamycin and now Clindamycin and Flagyl combined.

IMHO, 200 mg of doxy is not enough and, yes, you need to find a Lyme Literate Doctor. I believe we have given you the contacts to do that. An LLMD will get you on the right course of treatment.

Yes thanks for the info... My poor wife had been so stressed out with all the added responsibilities I didn't dare ask her to look at the info when she got out of work yesterday. Maybe today

I get every cold & flu I'm around, but then I have an immune deficiency in addition to Lyme...

I think one reason people w/ Lyme don't seem to get sick is because their immune system is either too compromised to generate symptoms (the symptoms are from the activity of the immune system combined with the die-off from the bug), or already in high gear (hypervigilant) so it kills the initial infection right away, so the infection doesn't get a chance to get established. But this is just my opinion...

Your immune system may be strong but maybe it doesn't recognize Lyme. It can recognize and fight colds, flu, other infections but it doesn't "see" the Lyme or it doesn't register as an invader.

This may be why some people get bitten and rarely have a problem and others get deathly ill. Some people get better on antibiotics but quickly relapse when they stop.

There is a fungus called Valley Fever that infects people in AZ and CA. Most people don't even know they've been infected yet others die from it. People of Filipino descent are more likely to get deathly ill from it because their bodies don't recognize the fungus as an invader. They usually need antifungals for the rest of their lives because their immune systems never recognize the VF as a threat. I think, for some of us, Lyme is the same way.

Doesnt make much sense to me everyone I talked to with Lyme get sick ALOT... very weak immune......

Strange how I have Severe confusion and derealization foggy stupidity feelings and forgetting everything plus many other symptoms but don't feel sick just a mental case .... Smh

Shan rock, I used to help run an in person support group so I knew hundreds of people with Lyme. I'd say it was about 50/50 on the strength of the immune system. about half seemed to always get sick and about half seemed to never get sick. Age didn't matter, the older people were just as likely to never get sick as the younger people.

We actually paid attention to this because we were trying to see if the "never sick" people recovered from their Lyme faster than those that always got sick but we didn't see much difference. (One of our members taught statistics in a high school and loved to gather data.)
