I read once (although I can't find it anymore) that Lyme can sort of sync up with the menstrual cycle. I've noticed that I always seem to feel better the first day of a new cycle...anyone have a similar experience?

It happens to me most months and it has for the past 20 years. I had always thought that everything was caused by my cycle until my lyme diagnosis.

it made mine worse.....8 to 10 days...heavy and i have to stay close to the house.....and i mess up at least one pair of jeans or shorts per cycle....i told my husband it would be cheaper for me to have a hysterectomy than to have to buy new clothes every month

Yep.  Before I started abx I would get major symptoms (HEADACHES, and on and on) starting a week to ten days before, and I blamed it on premenopausal pms.  Since being on antibiotics though it seems less related to my cycle.  I give myself 3 "forgive myself" days each month:  I allow myself to sleep as much as I want, eat as much as I want, and NO major decisions or confrontations during that time! smilewinkgrin .

I'm just now starting to track my symptoms because I felt they were in some sort of cycle. I have numbness, tingling, brain fog and extreme fatigue together. Then I have rapid heartbeat and panic together. Then it seems like a run of good days where I basically only notice general weakness. Finally, I have swollen lymph nodes, lactation and light fevers together. Weird. I'll update when I have a better handle on my cycles.

my "cycle" started about a week before my period. SEVERE headache for 3 or 4 days, through in some vertigo, then sore stiff neck, then sore stiff back, then sore stiff body, Exhaustion, and finally a nose bleed... did this for almost 2 years.

I have super intense Lyme symptoms approx 5-6 days before and then I have 2 days where I have more energy than normal and feel decent (usually that's when I'll clean my house!!) then my period acually begins and I am pretty much house bound. My period is so heavy and painful for 2 days then everything begins to 'level' out again! It's very exhausting to go through, but at least (during this time) it's predictable.

Hi guys, newly joined member here! Is anyone here on the pill due to messed up periods or severe symptoms due to lyme/co's? I was on the pill continuously, so that I never got a period, for a good 6 or so years, because during my period my lyme pain was so unbearable. I would like to get off the pill but that isn't an option right now. I am using it and taking the week off like the normal protocal for the pill is. I still feel extra crappy during that one week, but can push through it.
Anyone else?

Welcome to our forum!! I am really sorry that you have a need to be here, but I"m sure glad you found us! How long do you believe that you have been infected? Are you in treatment now? If so, how long have you been in treatment? What kind of treatment are you using? Are you seeing a LLMD (Lyme Literate Medical Doctor)? Sorry! I'm just full of questions!

If you haven't already, it would be beneficial for you to start with reading through the thread at the top of the forum titled,"New to Lyme?...Start here!!", as it is packed full of relevant information and informative links that have been put together by our members here! Most of those who have read through it have said that it was very helpful!! We also have a pretty good search function on this forum to help you narrow down your search for information from past posts. We must be our own health advocates now and the best thing to arm yourself with is knowledge!

I'm actually recovering steadily enough that just about the only time I have flare-ups is right before good ole shark week. Same as J.V., I know it's coming and there's nothing I can do so I use it as a time to not worry about how much I sleep, eat, etc. If I'm that miserable I've got to be able to look forward/get SOMETHING out of it, so tons of sleep/a little cheating on the diet it is :)
