the only hard proof you have is your symptoms - if you have symptoms of a TBI - especially if you have had a positive WB - you still have an active infection. That's what all of the research points to.
I have been researching tick-borne infections as hard as I can for the last 3 years. The first two I had a lot of cognitive issues, so my learning was slow. I had to 'travel by faith' that my issues really were caused by TBI's as I couldn't test positive until I had been on really high doses of Minocycline for a full year - and it
caused me to be bed bound afterwards. That alone was almost enough to convince me that TBI's
weren't what was wrong! Although after that I became obsessed with researching what was wrong with me, but the more I tried to prove to myself that I wasn't infected with TBI's the more evident it became to me that I was. Nothing else fit - as you can see in my sig line, I have had all but 20 of the items listed on the "Master Symptom List" found in the "new to Lyme?" thread.
I just don't believe that I could have all of these symptoms for so long - appearing and disappearing with no known trigger, or that I could have about
5 or more different autoimmune, arthritic, and cognitive issues descend on me without the aid of something like tick-borne infections. Any other explanation is actually harder for me to believe than having contracted several tick-borne infections.
Although that's just my experience and 2 cents!
