Hansa Center: trying to summarize all the info as of 10/31/11

Hello all,

I have been following many threads here and have become very interested in exploring the Hansa option. Would folks be willing to read my below notes and comment back? My goal is to hopefully have a clearer picture of the overall Hansa feedback, get to talk with some of you offline, and add what I can for others to have a nice summary. Here's is the summary of who has gone and what they're overall review was:

SIGNIFICANT IMPROVEMENT:
Wackowoman
GWB
Cindy lou hoo
Daisyrib
Deejavu (at home protocol)

Raw Vegan

SOME IMPROVEMENT:

Lita31 (had other factors to address, but was positive about her experience at Hansa - retainer removal?)

NO IMPROVEMENT:
SickTooLong (at home protocol)

WORSE:
(bea's husband - need screen name?)

WANTS TO GO:
Diaba
Mjewels
Simela (had her kids to watch)
Addsmom (started at home protocol 8/16/10)

I am pretty clear with GWB, Daisyrib, Deejavu, Cindy LouHoo. Some of the others either dropped off the forum, or I cannot find the most recent info, or some of the threads got argumentative and some posts deleted. Are any of you able to fill in some gaps as to what happened with the others? Also, are there any names I missed? Did I use the correct rating for each? I know there was woman ( "Bea" I think) whose husband had some issues with wobezyme and went to ER - but don't have her screen name now? Were there other 'less successful' stories that I missed?

Also, I am looking at going in November. Will any of you be there? It would be great to meet you as I have read so much of your stories I rather feel like I already know some of you, LOL. :-)

I wasn't going for a "concept"? I am not sure how to interpret your reply?

Also, if folks know someone who is wanting to go, I may be able to share the room to save $$$.

Hi REB,

Welcome!  As far as concept, I am guessing AchievingGrace is observing your observation of people who went to Hansa or did the home protocol and got well versus people who did either (went to Hansa or used the home protocol) and did not get well.

As far as I know, HeathersDad daughter Heather is doing great as well as GWB and his wife Daisy.    Wackowoman is also doing great as well as myself.

My thoughts about lyme disease is just not about taking botanicals.  It's about looking at the big picture which means addressing stresses in one's life (i.e.:  I was in a marriage where my ex-husband was not supportive of me thus we ended the marriage which took so much weight off of me).  I needed to reduce my stress levels as much as I could.  

I believe people will not get better no matter what protocol that use if they have too much stress in their lives.  So that's about stress alone.

Then the real work comes in when a person leaves a clinic or wherever they go when they return home.  If they do not continue to detox (detox baths, dry skin brushing, etc.) then I believe they will not get well.

Diet plays another role.  Eat unhealthy foods and that will increase one's chances of not getting better.  Same goes with exercise, I am a strong believer that exercise is a great way of detoxing and staying healthy. 

So again, it's just not about taking botanicals, it's about the big picture.  Mind, body, and spirit.

Thank you, you are so good at providing information to people (I recall seeing the info on Chiropractic training vs. MD you provided...I never knew that!).

I am a "big picture" gal too. I totally agree with the mind, body, spirit approach. I was so excited to read that was part of the clinic's philosophy. I've never wanted to mess with Rx, but had read so much about how one couldn't beat Lyme without them. I've had to change meds twice since June to give my liver a rest. And they've pulled me off all Rx's at this time. So Hansa could be the answer to my prayers :)

I will post how my two weeks go. Thank you so much for sharing your story. I hope you take a moment to reflect on how many people you've helped by sharing your info.

No worries, I'd just seen the other newbies get a welcome, so like I said, wasn't sure how to take that one, LOL :) Yeah it took me a month or so to do all that digging, thought I'd try to share the info so others could pick and choose what they might want to read a little quicker. I will post my experience too so that'll be one more data point to add to the list.

From what I read on another forum, GWB is not well and is still searching and looking for answers. I am NOT implying that the Hansa Center did not help him, just that he is still looking to get well from what I have read of his posting as of late.

1bitten2xshy, before I comment could you tell me which forum you're referring to? I'm on several forums so it would help me to know which forum you're referring to so I can talk about those specific issues I've been dealing with of recent.

I'll be more than glad to share with you all once I know which forum we're talking about.

Here we are again devoting an entire thread to Hansa.

I have nothing against Hansa. Loved the book.

But why do we openly discuss this doctor when we are so secretive
about posting any other doctors on this forum?

Why aren't we talking about another LLMD pro's and con's?

This policy of "protection" of the LLMD is still not jiving across the board and
we need to be able to share these protocols and treatmets of other doctors.

Some of these doctors have websites but we are still having to secretly email each other their names.

we need to be able to share ALL the info we can.

No one is going to loose their practice any more unless they are off the wall with their treatments.

we need to hear other protocols as well as jernigans.


AND...everyone please keep in mind another thing here.

Many of Jernigan's patients have gone thru extensive or some antibiotic treatments before being detoxed by him.

Basically, this is what he does....DETOX

and that is the key to everyone treatment. But it does not mean abx are not necessary.

By ONLY sharing the Hansa treatment we are in a way psychically derailing those on abx treatment.

Also the ORAL SYSTEM BALANCING is another key component that is done by another doctor who Jernigan recommends.

Oral balancing is known to help MS. Parkinsons and all kinds of chronic fatigue and immune disorders.

ALSO.... MOLD is a big issue for us all and many of us are not aware of the air quality in our own homes or jobs. It will keep you in a constant state of lyme symptoms.. google around about the mold thing.

If you do not remove the mold from your body you will not get rid of the lyme. This is a big problem because it is so costly to get mold out of the home. but it has to be investigated and dealt with.

We almost can not even look at say GWB progress or problems without a full mold evaluation of his house, car, job. or any other patients on this list.

Easy does it Bucci. We have known each other for awhile, so trust me when I say that you missed something when you were gone from the forum for a while.

We finally had to come to an understanding that those docs who advertise openly -especially if they advertise on the web - can have their info openly exchanged here. Many other LLMD's may still wish to be protected. It can be complicated trying to figure out who can be openly spoken about and who can't, but basically if they are advertising on the internet, then we talk about them here.

As for why Hansa? Well, I believe that it's nothing more than because that's where people want to go and to look into going. We have been following Jessica's treatment at Envita in Arizona, so we are not exclusive to Hansa. Any other treatment centers that openly advertise they treat Lyme can most certainly be discussed here.

I do hope that where ever you are going for treatment now is helping you. I know it's been a long road for you as well.

There is something else I feel the need to say here, but directed at all, not just Bucci. As GWB has pointed out, we need to be very careful about what we say about others here. We should never say something we "think" is true when talking about others. If we don't really know, then let's allow them their privacy.

I do believe that none of what was said here was meant to be harmful, misleading, or abusive in any way. We just need to be a little more careful with our words.

Buuci - I am discussing Hansa as I am going there next week. Was hoping to find others who might be there, connect with those who have, and share my condensed reading to help others. That seems to have hit a nerve. Please don't take my journey personally, and allow me my path to connect with others about Hansa. I understand and respect your question. Why not start a new thread, and allow me to get the answers I seek on mine? I would love to hear your story when I get back from my visit. Hopefully we can all learn from each other and make this journey a little better.

I am also doing Jerigan's at-home protocol and feel back to normal, although I continue to do it after finishing up the basic 6 month protocol. I don't post very much any more because I am doing better and there were so many new people joining and I was just saying and reading the same things over and over so I needed a break from it all for a while. I pop in once in a while to read and post, if something hits home with me.

I can remember parts of what you and your family were going through - and the concern there was here for your daughter's health! It is really really great to hear of her progress!!! As a parent myself and having had to live with my own TBI's for so long, I can imagine how you felt, and how relieved you must be to have your daughter - and her health- back!!

Again, Congrats to your daughter, you and the rest of your family!!

I am packing up to head out to Hansa, my appt is this Monday. I am not sure if the hotel has a computer for me to do updates, but if not I will post my experience once I am back home.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. All of you that went to the Hansa Center and posted your stories, and Deejavu with your sharing your experience with the at-home protocol inspired me to try it! I'll admit I was skeptical it would do much for me and after I read the book I thought Dr. J was different, but I am pleasantly surprised at my progress since starting the protocol. As I've posted before, I did try many things, including 9 months of antibiotics before going this route though.
