Hearing Things

For those who have been having extra sensitive hearing or just hearing things:

How do you know the difference (when it's not obvious)? What do you do when it gets so bad that it feels like reality is being distorted?

Just the other day I completely lost focus because I would hear one "small" sound to another, and I was completely tuning out the person who was talking to me.

When I'm in my room, especially at night, I'll hear the "small" sounds, but there's one sound that I can't quite find the source - it's like a slow moving ceiling fan or loud, powerful flap of a bird's wings (some sort of swoooshing rather than buzzing).

Just a few minutes ago I was messaging a friend of mine: "so i'm hearing a buzzing in my right ear but only in certain places - by the fridge now the fridge stopped it stopped... but I couldn't hear the same buzzing with my left ear... so either I can't hear in my left or I'm hearing things in my right "

*"small" sounds - computing buzzing (though to me it sounds like crickets - weird?), ticking of a clock, rain drops hitting a roof, cars in the distance, etc.

**This started being a problem earlier in the week

Motor sound, that's what that is... lol

There's a sound that I'm sure it's "outside" of my head, but I don't know what it is or where it's coming from. I think "motor" might be a good description.

But the sound that's driving me the most mental is the sound that is "inside" my head...

well im sorry all of u r going through this...but i have to celebrate cause im not crazy!!....lolol.....i didnt know this too was a symptom...i feel all better now knowing that lyme is probably the culprit....my left ear is very sensitive to sound..but at the same time my hearing in that ear is questionable.....so thanks for letting me know i havent completely lost it....lol
