April 6th 2015 is when HELL started for me. FIrst came the air hunger, then the fast heart rate and crushing chest pain, then the nausea/vomitting/diarrhea weight loss (30 pounds in one month) hallucinations, throat spasms, arms/legs/chest felt paralylized. AND SO MUCH MORE! I was convinced I had LYme even though all tests were coming back negative. I demanded doxy and Im glad I did because i got better, but did horribly after coming off a 60 day course of doxy. I have a WONDERFUL infectious disease doctor in PGH PA, who dug deeper and found I had Brucella. Shes never taken care of anyone with it but told me she wouldn't stop until i was 100% better and as of today, the only remaining symptom is fatique and muscle twitching. Still so very scared for my future. I believe this was from a tick bite because I was positive for EBV,Mycoplasma and now Brucella. I think it is possible that the tick wasnt carrying LYme, but I will never know for sure. IGenex and regular western blot were all completely negative. I hope and pray you all are hanging in and feeling as good as you can be. Scary stuff. Prayers to all....

Diagnosis'd MYCO/EBV/Brucella by an amazing Infectious disease doctor. Thats right, Infectious disease. They arent all bad.
Thank you for sharing some of your experience and symptoms, LEIGH68773!
I'm so glad you are getting help and treatment. Thank God your tests for Brucellosis were positive. Many of those infected don't have that priviledge as the current tests for it in the U.S. are woefully insensitive.
I sure hope your disease presentation and successive tests follow a "textbook" pattern and presentation, because ID docs are notorious for giving inadequate treatment even for infectious diseases, especially if disease presentation doesn't follow exact textbook cases.
Most cannot think outside the box, only follow rigid policy guidelines that don't always match a patient's experience. They don't just have trouble with Lyme disease, but their handling of Lyme disease is a good illustration for what I'm talking about
.
That said, I really do hope your treatment is successful and you don't have to revisit your treatment or this site again. Be your own advocate. Be educated about
Brucellosis and it's treatment. You really are the one responsible for your own health.
Good luck and much success!
