Made an appointment today with a local LLMD recommended by another on this board (yea!). Mid-January.

In the meantime, I have my Western blot results in front of me. Interested to hear your thoughts.

Lyme Ab = 2.38
(Anything above 1.10 indicates antibody to B. burgdoferi presumptively detected)

Lyme IgG Wb:
Negative

18 -
23+
28-
30-
39-
41+
45-
58-
66+
93-

Lyme IgM Wb:
Positive

23+
39-
41+

Sed Rate = 1


Wasn't diagnosed for approximately 2 months. Was on doxy for 11 weeks, then off for a month at the advice of an ID, and then on again since last Wednesday due to what I would consider a relapse.

Still have the 'stretching' feeling inside the left side of my head around my temple/ear. Feels like cotton inside. PCP doc today said likely an artery or vein that has become inflamed/infected so it feels like there's something wrong wit my brain. Definitely feels right under the skin.

Need to get over the hump. I feel so close.

This is of course a positive test as band 23 is positive. IGM usually means current/active infection. Was this test throught local lab or Igenex? Were you tested for any coinfections?

Band 23 is for Outer Surface Protein C which is specific to the bacteria Borellia burdorferi, which causes Lyme disease.

When you see a Lyme Literate Doctor, they will test for co-infections. The local labs are not very accurate on those.

Well, at least you have a clear test result -- remember the CDC wants five bands is just for their reporting purposes, your diagnosis should be made clinically by an a doctor with experience with Lyme.

Thanks for the info about band 23 a-grace. I had bands 23 & 39 present on my first wb. Can you tell me if band 39 is also specific to b. burgdorferi?

Yes band 39 is lyme specific. It was one of the bands that showed up on my first "negative" WB.
