Need help/support

Hi everyone, ill start by introducing myself, my name is Katie and im 18 years old, and from Maryland. I started having many symptoms of lymes since about January of this year. At first I didn't suspect it was lymes, but then as I had more symptoms and did more research and am now 100% convinced I have it. It started off with the general tiredness, but then later on I started having more complicated symptoms, I was getting everyday headaches/head pressure associated with this term I came to find as "brain fog" I also noticed symptoms I've never had before, I had developed these things called eye floaters and everyday constant muscle twitches and spasms. Since then I've had joint cracking and pretty much everytime I go to move an arm or a leg it cracks. I also suddenly have frequent UTI's (which may or not be related) I went to see a Lymes specialist and she was convinced as well it was lyme. She started me on docycline, and that had no effect on me whatsoever. We then tried a combination of rifampin and something else that I can't remember the name of, I wasn't on that very long because my system did not tolerate it. I am now on Amoxicillin, I noticed that the headpressure felt a little better while on the Amoxicillin, but still noticed most of the other symptoms. At this point I'm afraid that anything I try is going to have no effect on me. This has taken over my whole life and I feel I can no longer be happy anymore. If anyone can give me some help or tell me their stories I'll gladly listen.

Thanks for your reply. Your response brought up another question I had...my Dr reccommended I take probiotics at least 3x a day. To me this sounded too much seeing as how nothing on the product label said anything about taking it more than once a day. I couldnt find anything online about it either. Are you taking it more than once a day?

Hi, Katie18, welcome to the forum!

It is possible that if you've had an infection since January - or before - it may just take time for noticable progress to be made while on antibiotics. Have you been tested for Lyme? What about co-infections? Viruses? For most of us there's a whole host of things going on in the body - one thing sets a whole process in motion. It's usually pretty helpful to do thorough testing, to be sure of what you're really dealing with.

Perhaps the dose of amoxicillin isn't high enough? Sometimes it takes a lot of different strategies to eradicate this thing, whether it be multiple antibotics, herbal treatments, things like rife machines, etc.

As for your symptoms, if you look at the thread "New to Lyme?....Start Here!" there are a lot of suggestions for detoxing which might help with some of your symptoms.

It's also possible that you just have a very strong body - which is a good thing - and maybe your threshold for pain and discomfort is high enough that you don't really notice the treatments working, while maybe they are?

I know what it's like to feel like you've lost your whole life to being sick, but you will get it all back, and then some! You've just got to find the treatment that works best for you. We're here to help with any questions you have and tons of suggestions.
