Dizziness...need some opinions.

I understand that Lyme and Syphilis can cause an inner ear auto-immune problem. But I also know that your first or main symptom is the last to go before you are fully recovered.

You won't know for sure until you are finished treatment!

Sounds like your treatment needs to be stepped up, what are you being treated with now?

I just got a new crown. No root canals. I am going to my dentist in February so this is all a good point. I think my right side is the side that gives me the dizziness. I would have never thought about the teeth, etc...Thanks!!!

I know that's why I am on that drug. I have been treated for 6 months for Babesia. Honestly, I don't think I have Babesia. Plus all the mega doses of anti malaria drugs did nothing for me. It's funny...the only time I felt 100% is when I broke my ankle and was on Vicodin for 2 months. Maybe I should get back on it. LOL.

My first diagnosis with this disease was Meniere's Syndrome. My first treatment was for a gut fungal infection. Diet changes and Nystatin helped ease almost all of my inner ear symptoms.

Medical knowledge for vestibular disorders is far behind the curve, even when compared to the state of medical knowledge of Lyme. Very view Meniere's or MAV sufferers have figured out that they might have systemic infections, but I know folks who hang out on Menieres.org that are there due to Lyme or other similar systemic infections.

The problem is that many of us have co-infections and you're either treated for fungal or bacterial issues, but treating too much for one can lead to the other going wild. Since you've been on abx for a while, you may have a runaway fungal co-infection.

Please ask your doctor to add Nystatin to your regimen.

I ran into the problem of taking too many anti-fungals, and having the bacterial infections get worse. Now I don't take abx without anti-fungals and vice versa.

Not to overwhelm you with options, but your situation sounds a bit similar to mine so I thought I should chime in...

It's possible that your body is basically overloaded with toxins, for one reason or another. Some people get HLA DRB genetic testing done - which is usually inexpensive, depending on your insurance. I've had it done and I still don't fully understand my results, to be honest, but it's something along the lines of if you have a certain genotype your body has a lot of trouble excreting toxins - and after a year of treating Lyme it stands to reason that you'd have a boatload of them! - and they instead get reabsorbed in the intestines.

It's a useful test to have done, but even without it, there are plenty of reasons your body could be having a little extra trouble getting rid of those toxins, leading you to continue to feel bad. I recently started taking cholestyramine to bind to the toxins and it's been helping quite a bit. There are a lot of other great ways - many of which are pretty simple and cheap - to detox too - have you been detoxing as part of your treatment plan?

Sassy - if you did Shoemaker's VCS test and came out negative, that is supposed to be an indicator that you don't have neurotoxin issues. It's funny, Doc Shoemaker is only 20 miles from me but I have never gone to see him - iNstead I opted for an LLMD about 55 miles away!
