Hi,
I haven't posted in awhile, I hope you are all doing better. My husband, prior to starting IV Rocephin treatment for Lyme in Oct 2010, had terrible bowel and stool issues-- which prior to the Lyme diagnoses, we were told was IBS, possibly food allergies etc. We now think/know that Lyme and possibly co-infections are/were the culprit (although he tested negative for co-infections for what that's worth).
My husband, as some of you may remember from my earlier posts, has a low white blood cell count, so our LLMD feels we shouldn't double up on antibiotics as it may push his white count too low-- so he wants to hold off treating for Babesia which he feels my husband may have. We have managed to eke out 3 months on the Rocephin by varying the amount he gets each day from 1 to 2 grams and then by skipping a day or two each week. My husband for the past several weeks has had nausea 24-7 and his bowel issues have not improved. He takes VSL probiotics everyday (450 billion)and eats plain Greek yogurt everyday, no sugar, mainly organic fruits, veg, egg whites, chicken and fish (no red meat).
The biggest isssue he has-- and I'm sorry I have to be gross-- is that his stool is like very soft tooth paste--meaning it is virtually impossible to push it out--- which makes it very hard to leave the house because he wants to use a bidet or even shower after he uses the bathroom-- and he goes 5 to 6 times a day. His nausea always lessons after he goes, which obviously means that he is trying to expel toxins and because they are not easily expelled they are making him feel sick.
We have tried increasing soluble fiber through foods, taking fiber suppliments, not eating any grains, no dairy other than the yogurt, taking aloe vera pills (by Amp Floracel) following the diet in the book Breaking the Vicious Cycle-- and nothing seems to help very much--- Anyone have any ideas or suffered with similar symptoms?
My husband also takes many of the supplements listed in the Lyme Guide you can get off the internet written by Dr. Joe Burrascano-- being CoQ-10, Lipoic acid, B vitamins, greentea extract, NT factor, Sam-e, magnesium, Cordy [something] made from mushrooms, vitamin C etc. We also went to a GI doctor at Columbia Presbyterian hospital in New York City and she tested my husband for everything stool related -- and all the tests were negative. She had no suggestions on how to help us and in the end was useless other than for allowing us to rule out parasites, Celiac's disease etc.
Please remember that my husband's bowel issues existed prior to starting his Lyme protocol so the antibiotics and suppliments are not the main cause although they of course might be exacerbating things.
And lastly, does anyone have an opinon about the Doug Coil machine? I know that electromagnetic current can in fact do amazing things.
Thanks.
