Has anyone done this and  had any luck with Hyperbaric Oxygen therapy for Lymes ????????

I haven't tried this personally, but there've been some threads about it lately - and probably in the past as well. Have you tried searching it on the forum?

Doctor I saw yesterday had Lyme and did the HBC and insists it really helps.

The doctor who is treating me works in a medical center that has a hyperbaric oxygen chamber. After finishing my first round of multiple antibiotics I asked him if I could take a few sessions of HBOT. He said that because I herxed very bad during the abx treatment he could not risk getting me into that chamber as I could get a very strong herx that would put me out for days. Also he does not recommend taking abx and doing HBOT during the same time because tons of toxins would be discharged in the blood all at once.
I would like to help you more, but as I was not allowed to try this therapy yet I can't tell you how effective it will be for you.

Thanks for all the Info .. I was also told that you should not use HBOT if you have a co infection so maybe its not such a good idea at this point ..LOL The Lymes Dr that I will be going to has a HBChamber in his ofc also !!!

I've read lots of excellent data supporting it's use with and without antibiotics.

I've spoken to a few folks having relief with it and saying that
it should be expected to have severe herxes.

I had one treatment myself last spring after never having long term antibiotics
for long term coinfections as well and I herxed pretty bad.

I had disorientation, severe fatigue, diarrhea and hypoglycemia...
but it got better and then I had the first 2 good weeks in months.

Want to go back...trying to get the money and building up my stamina first to tolerate
the herxes because my adrenals are shot from long term undiagnosed infections
by 25 useless physicians.

My family and I have a really good feeling about it for my future...worth a try.

LymeSince 9 .. My adrenals are also shot due to having lymes and not knowing .. I have to take small doses of HC everyday just to help them a little and help with the Hypoglycemia that Adrenal Insuffeceinccy causes ... Did you have problems with Hypoglycemia due to your Adrenal issues ???????

This is interesting to me, do you take the oxygen in water or a different way, I have heard of it being put into the vein as well.

Heather never received Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. However, she received a therapy that was a little different, but yet still effective.

When Heather started ABX treatment with her second LLMD, we also started her on an adjunct treatment as well. My wife's and my own personal doctor's specialty is "Internal Medicine." He does some treatments that are a bit out of the mainstream for M.D.'s in Maryland. He does not see pediatric patients, but he allowed Heather to use a facility that he had recently opened up for his geriatric patients. There were 3 pieces of equipment that Heather used twice a week, and that we felt helped her a lot.

The 3 pieces of equipment were: 1) an exercise bike with a line to 100% oxygen, 2) a kinetic vibrating machine, and 3) Far Infrared sauna. She used the equipment in the order that I have given here.

I felt that the exercise bike with oxygen was the next best thing to hyperbaric oxygen therapy at a fraction of the cost. She was fitted with her own individual face mask which was hooked up to an oxygen tank. She pedaled for 20-30 minutes, and could set the resistance setting to whatever she felt like. The exercise warmed the body and distributed oxygen to areas of her body that normally would not receive oxygen due to poor blood flow. The 100% oxygen combated anaerobic bacteria in her body. It also served to promote healing in poorly oxygenated areas of her body. This doctor does his homework. I am sure that this equipment was specifically set up to help his geriatric patients with poor blood flow, necrotic tissues, and gangrene, etc.

Heather improved very rapidly using this treatment while she was on ABX. However, we were detoxing her very thoroughly. Herxes didn't stand a chance. Since this treatment was so effective, I am sure that hyperbaric therapy would be as least as effective, if not more than what Heather had received. The increased air pressure causes the pure oxygen to penetrate deeply into tissues that are normally difficult to access. If you have the money, i would do it!

I do not know whether it is customary to use ABX while using Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. Your doctor will know what is best for you. Good luck with it if you do it!

I have been calling around myself, because I don't feel I am getting better, I feel I am getting worse, with the seizures, and more pain.

The places , even the big expensive Lyme treatment places, use different machines, one of them is the infer red sauna. I have heard great things about Oxygen , and Lyme, but it's very expensive for the machine, and I don't know of any doctors here in Illinois that I could pay to use theirs. I heard about oxygen water as well, but I feel the machine or the tank would be more effective.

Since we all have different co -infections, I know different things work for different people, but it's sure worth a try, because living with pain everyday, horrible pain is terrible.

I had severe neurological Lyme w/Babesia & Bartonella for 8 years...considered an antibiotic failure, and so ill I was homebound for 5 years straight.

My symptoms were extreme and relentless; too many to list here. I was told, even by LLMD's, that I needed a miracle, and there was nothing more they could do for me (I tried many, many protocols with never any improvement, just a continual spiral downward).

I eventually became so toxic and environmentally sensitive that I could do no treatments for 5 years before starting MILD hyperbaric treatment w/supplemental oxygen (I bought my own chamber and self-treated 1 hour daily).

I now have my life back...working again, running (I had been a runner for 17 years, pre-Lyme), traveling, etc. It has been a miraculous recovery, and it is 100% due to mHBOT (along with meticulous diet, and gradual exercise).

I believe success depends on the frequency and consistency of use...many people say they "tried hyperbaric, but it didn't work"...but if you query them, inevitably they didn't do it consistently or frequently enough...or for a long enough duration. You must be committed to this treatment to have success.

I almost made the fatal mistake of returning my chamber after 40 consecutive "dives", not feeling any improvement at that point. Fortunately, I was talked into continuing treatment, and felt the first "change" (not necessarily "improvement") after about 2 months.

It was a rocky, 2-step-forward, 1-step back road, but after several months, although I was not completely well, I was functional again, and after 1-1/2 years, I was "back"...

Now, 2 years from the beginning of treatment, I am still noticing benefits from the chamber...and truly have my life back...very active again...no medications...no restrictions...

Low (pressure) and slow WORKS...I'm living proof...

so far it has been the one that has benefited me the most. it took maybe 2 weeks to kick in. i was dreaming every night [ i don't remember if i still am] my speech improved, also reaction to speaking too, skin problem improved,better mood, I'm faster in general, no sugar cravings for the first 1-2months, less worrying, i don't remember what else, but it was 11 things that improved[i think my immune system went up] & that's that i only did 7 sessions & only like 4 actually that count for lyme, because of the level pressure. i went abroad actually, which is much cheaper[even with plane ticket was roughly 1,500 and the doctor spoke some english, but i wouldn't know how much, since i spoke in spanish with him. he said there had been 3 people from here that went there. here is nearly imposable from what i heard, if you do go, it's about 20k, and you have to go to a hard shell one to get high enough ATA[?]. there is a video on youtube on how to build one for 5k, but you have to be careful. Because the hyperbaric doctor had my organs tested, and my kidney wasn't good [that's that i consider my self as having mild lyme] and he wouldn't let me in until it got better, which only took a few days of vitamin IVs. i just bought the oxygen orchard pitcher, which can infuse your water up to 90% oxygen saturation. i hardly herx, but the first day i sleep an extra 3 hours right away and then less and less through out the next few days. i would say i improved 30% with just a weeks worth

What kind of chamber did you use? I would like to purchase one for my home treatments.

Also, did you use everyday or 5 days a week.

I have been doing Ozone *intravenous* treatments for 6 weeks.

I find that I have no need for antimicrobials. 2 years ago I could barely walk. Antimicrobials helps, but the ozone has been a great push. I'm doing pull-ups for the first time in my life.

There are dangers with ozone, but breathing in ozone can be detrimental. It's better to do ozone injects, saunas or IV's than breath it.

We began using a Vitaeris 320 with an oxygen concentrator to treat our family's Lyme disease, after antibiotic treatments were no longer helping. With 1 hour a day low pressure hyperbaric oxygen therapy my son is about 80% better after 9 months of treatment. It has been life changing. He also takes vitamin supplements and cats claw, but the chamber time has made the biggest improvement in his health. With my son doing so much better I have begun using the chamber as well. After three months I have improved energy, less mental fogginess, and longer breaks between flares of joint pains.

There is a mhbot thread on lymenet ...welcome .that's a sweet unit ..quite a investment ....did a doc have to script the o2 concentrator ..reminder is doing dives i wonder how he is doing ?

I'm glad to hear the HOT has helped your family. A Dr I have seen in the past while I searched for answers for my health probs before the Lyme diag. Has a chamber. I'm going to call and start those since it's helping you. I need all kinds of help, lol.

today i'm on my fourth hyperbaric chamber I don't really notice anything, no herxes. Maybe a smidge more energy. I was told I needed 20 sessions to feel something...we'll see.

HBOT is not readily available for Lyme & cos in NC. My llmd is aware of it, but has no experience with it and told me that none that she is aware of will treat a Lyme patient. I am considering getting an oxygen concentrator and piping the output to my cpap machine while I sleep. She doesn't know how to prescribe a concentrator either, since that is within the realm of respiratory therapists. Has anyone tried this? Or have suggestions? I can buy a O2 concentrator outright (under $500,) but would prefer to get some help from my insurance coverage. She suggested Pramayama breathing techniques (suggested that they would work as well as HBOT) so that is a consideration. Whether it does work as well as HBOT....IDK.
