For the last 10 months I have wrestled with the question of if I should test my 2 year old daughter for Lyme (where she would have gotten it congenitally). The first LLMD I saw acted like it was no big deal if she wasn't showing any symptoms. The next doctor I saw (LLND) said that she was for sure she had it since I was undiagnosed and my symptoms flared during pregnancy. She said I should test her just to see what the test says even if she doesn't appear to have a lot of symptoms.
My daughter seems healthy but some times I think she has some symptoms (digestive issues, increased allergies to food and meds, random times where she says her head hurts, sleep issues). And I think that she doesn't have the communication enough to tell me if something is hurting or getting worse so she might have symptoms I don't know about. And then sometimes I think I'm just being paranoid and lots of kids have all those things happen without having Lyme disease.
And then the question is, if her test comes back positive should I start treatment or wait until there are definite symptoms?
What are your thoughts?
