Vivid dreams as a herx?

I've had all different kinds of sleep disturbances throughout this whole process of treatment, including ridiculously vivid dreams! Sometimes they're scary - luckily lately they haven't been so I just consider it a very active subconscious!

It's always hard to tell if it's the abx or herxing...usually I end up waiting it out until my symptoms change into something else. Personally I think azithromycin messes with me a little bit. Sorry I can't be more help as far as what exactly it is, but hopefully it helps to know it's "normal."

Another thing you might want to look into is B6 - this vitamin is associated with vivid dreams, and a lot of us take so many extra vitamins with B6 as a pretty common one (that was an issue for me!).

I agree with borderlyme. Maybe you can take baths, or maybe reading prior to going to bed (no horror stories certainly ;)). I don't think the vivid dreaming in necessarily an indicator of healing but rather a reaction to toxins in the blood stream resulting from bacteria die off. I have had those dreams many times when I experienced when I had those fluish feelings. Would suggest your dreaming is now so vivid because your new medication kills lyme in certain body areas that have not been affected by abx before.

I am an old timer lymie. For quite some time I dreamed incessently, actually they were stories, and sometimes I jotted them down in the a.m. thinking I could use them to write a novel or short story.. They were in color they had all the parts of a novel for the most part.

There were a few nightmares, i.e. I was in a group of Jewish people and the Germans were going to fire. That type of a thing.

Like all of my symptoms this has left, my symptoms can come and go. I do not know how long you have been sick but my nightmares were terrible initially when I first got sick, I was afraid to sleep but I also had electrical currents going down my legs, this did clear up with treatment, it was quite a bit later the vivid dreams came.

I would try reading or meditating before bed, and using soft comfy everything, blanket pillow pj's etc.. If you have fever try to keep it down with whatever it is you take.. Good luck,

Before I received treatment for Lyme, I had one crazy audio-only dream and what appears to have been audio-only hallucinations -- I spent the summer in a tent and many nights I was terrified for my life because I could hear what sounded like an animal aggressively running through our tent grounds. No one else sleeping near me heard this...

Once I received treatment, things got better. Then recently, six months after I stopped treatment, I started having graphic/violent dreams. Most are not scary to me, just bizarre. One night I dreamed I was standing outside of a store. A car drove up in front of me, stopped briefly and then took off...leaving someone sitting on the sidewalk. He looked fine until he suddenly calmly turned his head to the side and spewed a large flow of blood from his mouth. It was so strange!

In my case, medication is not the cause of the dreams, but perhaps it is in your case. I've heard of some people who take certain anti-malarials, for example, that give them horrible nightmares.
