so i had blood work done last week. western blot and all, went to 2 doctors with the results and a very reputable infectious disease specialist. my blood work said i had the anti bodies because i tested positive. now all tests say no co infections and negative for it being active. i have been so stressed for how this could effect me in the future if i dont get rid of it. im hoping it is cureable. they all said im not in the late stage, i got put back on doxy 4-6 weeks because the random onset of fatigued muscles and for a couple days my muscles were burning. idk if it was a herx from my body just clearing toxins or if it never got all of the lyme out. my orginial doctor never told me to take the doxy on an empty stomach so this specialist explained everything. i lay in bed worrying im going to die, or my nervous system is damages, brain my heart etc. i just got prescribed zoloft because my mom is scared ( was debating on hurting myself) and i have been a hypochondriac since 19. and i trained my brain back then to actually have symptoms if i think about them long enough. i have been really stressed so idk if its just anxiety causing the symptoms, herxing, or the lyme but either way im back on doxy just incase. she explained the possible herx reactions. the llmd is really expensive and the wait is really long, they want half of the 1200 up front just for the consultation. either way is it possible for me to clear this out of my system like i did when i was 13. im 22 have a pretty strong immune system, what kind of detoxing and supplements should i take to aid in this next 6 weeks. im so scared i will end up in awheel chair. i have been having some slight aches in my right hand and my knees, tiredness in my arms. yet i havent had much sleep. any help is greatly appreciated. im just scared i will lose my gf, lose my ability to do things and be infected for the rest of my life. idk what to do anymore i just started the zoloft today. the doctor said alot of people are able to recover no problems with the doxy and i would have a problem if it was undiagnosed for years. help please

DVLS, I know how you feel to a point. I am so lucky that I've known my dr before I started going to her as a patient. We used to ride together. She isn't a specialist, but in a way she is. She has delt with Lymes in family and other patients. She has my on Doxy and told me she'll do as many re-fills as I need. Along with this I am dealing with stomach issues and an ortho dr. looking into my knee more for possible surgery (if its not the knee cap)

It is so scarey not knowing how bad it will get. I'm no were near the severity of many, but it still has messed up my life. Dr says I am a later stage but not the chronic stage. Several people think I've had it for years seeing as how far back my issues stem. If this is what my "trigeminal neuralgia" is, or what caused it, I've had it for a couple years at least. I used to be so active with horses, now it hurts to just walk. I have only sat on a horse for a total of 10 minutes last year. It kills me to not be able to do what I love so much. Always tired, always hurting, sometimes dizzy, sometimes my hearing is off on one side.

I really hope the Zoloft calms you a bit. Stress and anxiety will probably make it harder to heal, I'm dealing with the same issue myself. When I stress, I tense up more and it makes it worse.
Suggestion on the stress and anxiety. Use some music, or perhaps art if you can... even video games can help. I can't play some games because of my left wrist, from injury and possibly the lymes attacking that weak joint. Just do all you can to try and live life while you recover. Perhaps, if you like war games or ones you need to think for, join us at Ministry of War. It helps keep my mind off things at times.

If your gf loves you dear, she'll stay. My fiancee made it clear to me he'll stick by me, even when this makes me in so much pain I nearly rip his head off.

Keep your head up! You can improve, you just need to keep fighting. Fight for what you love and to get better Dvls; don't give up.

Take a deep breath. This disease will make you question yourself over and over again. Believe me, I have been there. I went from being a workaholic, control freak to laying on the couch telling myself that it must be all in my head as the drs. had been telling me. It is not. This disease is very real but it is possible to get well. You have to think positive. Most people with lyme have anxiety problems. Anxiety is a very common problem and once you can get that under control with meds you can start to move ahead. Your body has to think it can get well in order to get well. I was literally living on xanax to get through each day and I haven't touched it in over a year now. Don't let anyone tell you that you don't need it. They don't know. Lyme screws up the nervous system and your stress hormones run on high so even the slightest bit of stress is magnified.

Lyme is a long slow journey to get well. Come back here often and get the reassurance and answers to your questions you need. Learn to occupy your mind with activities you like to do while on the road to getting well.

Please take heart that your symptoms are reversible with treatment. And a positive outlook is really important to getting better. Look, you trained your mind to imagine symptoms before, you can use that same strength to train your mind back to good health!

thanks guys. im going to take zoloft through my 4-6 weeks of doxy starting today. i have xanax but my therapist recommends something more specific because im always worrying.

they said im not late stage, so on top of the doxy twice a day i am planning on:

the epsom salt/ peroxide baths for detox
i dont eat junk food but avoiding any really non beneficial foods
culturelle
green vibrance daily

any inputs?i will beat this. i guess i have some hope being told im not late stage? we will see how these next 6 weeks go.

i need to get over my ocd and rid this lyme from my body to keep my future outlook positive so i can finish school and finally get married. no more being scared

i did it when i was 13 i can do it again now

will this be an ok routine to do while im on zoloft to control my ocd and anxiety?
im still nervous if i will ever be able to fully eradicate this from my body.

the burning sensations only lasted for a day and a half on monday/tuesday. i just started the doxy yesterday. im still having little aches throughout the day. it seemed to have calm down with me calming down.

   I would really think seriouly about going on any form of anti- depresent. I've tried them all and found nothing but terrible side effects. Some of these will magnify your anxiety ten fold. I ran out of cymbalta [ this does seem the best for pain relief out of all] the other week and though I was going to die of heart attack till I remeber I ran out. Please read the side effects long and hard for these meds are  nothing to fool around with. Once you start you just don't quit them. Sorry I ever took one. And if you do take them and experince some very strange emotions tell your self it's the pill it will keep your anxiety level down. Good luck with all. Pat

Well ive had anxiety since i was 19 but since these synptoms arose i wasnt sure if it was from my anxiety or the lyme from january when i found out i got bit by another tick. I just keep thinking im going to end up in a wheel chair or have a heart problem from this. I keep thinking im 22 and wont be able to enjou the rest of my life. My gf is mad at me for all these thoughts. I have been able to calm myself down a bit but idk why i cant get over this.

I started yesterday another 4 to 6 weeks of doxy 200mg total a day
I am going to do the bath detox. Can i use probiotics with the medication?

Anxiety is worring over things that are not real. Your not in a wheel chair. You don't have heart problems. Your worries are unfounded and unecessary. I do think your anxiety could have come from lyme.


But talk to yourself and only dwell on now and things you can control. The zoloft is just another problem areal problem just waiting for you. Read those side effects.


Listen to your GF his intensions are out of love though it's not coming across that way. Atick to the here and now thats tough enough. God bless yah.

I am trying. I have been a hypochondriac since i been 19. 3 years. I was disgnosed with lyme in january again. I got really worked up when i was 19 and im sure it could be my lyme, but anxiety runs in the family. I had a full blood work up western blot etc. i had blood drawn again waiting for the results. It was about 2 weeks ago idk if i was overthinking but i been having the aches etc. im trying not to think of the worst case scenario, i am just scared. I have ocd too thats why i was prescribed the zoloft. I can not stop thinking lyme is going to kill me, ruin my relationshiP and the rest or my teeth fall out. ( probably me not taking great care of my teeh and having braces.) depressed

You know, this Healingwell site also has forums on both Anxiety and Depression. The folks over there might have some helpful insights into your situation.

I didn't know of ocd sorry for you. I agree with the moderators post. You do have a bit more to deal with than I thought. But again try to stay in the moment for the future is what it will be and should not be your concern at such ayoung age.

I'm 56 married. Have a 6 yr old daughter. 8 mortgages over 1,000,000.00 dollars. Been in and outof hospital 6 times in last three years. Was worth a couple of million dollars.

Now unable to work. Filing bankruptcey. Lost every cent I had. Out of business. Med bills that would make your head spin.

Prescripitions for hbp can't afford. Got severe lyme, panic attacks, arthritis, degenitive disk, need knees replaced, no job, no insurance, and all we can do to keep electric and food for us.

And yet I'm fairly happy just to be alive. Have the love and joy of a daughter and loving wife. Sometimes I get a bit deppressed,But after many years of though we are so lucky to have lived and experience the gift of life I thank the good lord for giving me this gift.


No matter how many times I've been in hospital and pain and suffering I still see people much worse off than I and just wish I could help them. Keep your head up and thank God you have alot of life in front of you. You'll be fine and everyone gets scared. It's just normal too. Give your GF a hug it will go a long way. He's scared too.

well i have been on the doxy for about a week now, as well as zoloft and i have been feeling better. i have been getting minor aches now very rarely through the day. now i had a scary moment the past 2 nights.

i dont know if it was a panic attack in my sleep or a side effect of the zoloft, or the lyme if that was truly causing the problems. (still waiting for the igenex results now since the elisa and west blot said it was inactive). the past 2 nights i woke up twice sweating very bad in my legs and groin area.

then as soon as i woke up i walked to the bathroom because i had to urinate then come back to lay in bed to sleep. i put my hand on my chest and can barely feel a heartbeat. it would speed up then slow down and im not sure if it was palpatations too.

then for the next few minutes i would change positions to see if i could feel my heart beat, standing up and sitting down, laying etc. I havent had any headaches, lightheadedness, no dizziness or blurred vision at all with lyme. I did have the burning sensation and aches in my extremeties and chest being the reason i went to the ID.

i did not have any chest pain or any weird feelings this morning while it was happening, but i am scared that it was a bad sign of a heart attack or something like that. Im 22 5'7 118 lbs, dont smoke no high cholesterol etc.

Could it have been a panick attack in my sleep, maybe from the zoloft? the pillows from my bed were across the room when i woke up. Or the lyme? im scared i was ready to call 911.

i have been taking the doxy 2 times a day til i can get to a llmd. i havent had any herx like feeling reactions. i am drinking lots of water, i take the green vibrance supplement each morning to help my liver and digestion. still need to do the detox baths. just scared for my life. i have finals coming up and i feel like im not going to wake up for some reason in the morning

i have had ekgs in the past when i became a hypo and developed ocd when i was 19 to check my heart. i feel so hopeless

it seems like the day after i started both medications i was up for 3 straight nights thursday night through sunday night, of no sleep not being tired. maybe the zoloft?

  Try to get off the zoloft. After just 3 days you should be able to just stop. These meds have serious side effects that's why I can't believe your doc give it to you.

   The sweats do come from any anti. If you drink beer etc. it's worse. Now you see my concerns over his prescription.

    These meds should only be used as a last resort. They have terrible side effects. Docs write scrips and go to next patient. When is the last time you heard of someone being cured.

     You Get an operation or a perscription. All big money. Cures no money.

      Good luck you don't need zoloft. You can beat this without messing with your mind.   Look up Gary Wade and read about vitamin C.

      Best of luck and keep in touch and read those side effects they happen.

I think i am going to have to. Its only 25mg twice a day i guess thats a low does its been today is the 6th day i been on it.

I was contemplating if it could be from the green vibrace on top of the centrum one a day i took yesterday.

I took the doxy and the zoloft at around 1130 and fell aslee around 1245. 5 am is when i woke up with the issues and then stayed up for an hour before i went back to bed when i calmed down.

It scared the pooP out of me. Should i just stoP taking it? I hope i didnt screw up my heart.

Also would xanax be ok. I have a prescription for that. Im really stressed now. Did i mess upy heart? That was the first time that happened.

I take xanax too. It too is addictive but easy to get away from. Take one zoloft for 2 days then cut one in half and take for 2 days then no more. Take your xanax as soon as you feel anxiety coming om.If you wait the effect is much less and don't forget to talk to yourself. Your not alone and you will be fine. Your mind is playing trixs on you your heart is fine. you can buy a blood pressure machine fairly cheap and monitor your BP and heart rate to reasure your self. Lyme does excelerate your heart rate. Mine was in low 60's and now can be 80 to 100. For alot of pepole thats normal. Talk to yourself and know its just anxiety or call a freind and yalk it away. Your mind is a powerful thing.

You could try St. John's Wort . Look it up and trad about it. Works for a lot of folks.

Also vitamins can be very toxic. Does your green vibrance contain vitamins.

Hi dvlsfan - it's up to you whether you want to stick with the zoloft, though it's a decision that's probably best made in collaboration with your doctor. IMO it's a tossup and most of the time you figure out after the fact whether a certain medication is worth its side effects. With antidepressants, it's extra tough to tell whether it's side effects or just your body adjusting to the change. I'm currently on a natural protocol to alter my neurotrasmitter levels (which has a similar effect as zoloft) and sometimes it's tough - I don't know which way is up.

It's also possible that you're herxing - make sure you're drinking plenty of lemon water, resting adequately, etc. Have you tried any sort of meditation or breathing exercises? Are you seeing a psychotherapist? As much as all of us here want to help as best we can, it sounds like - as far as your issues with anxiety, hypochondria, etc., a trained professional is your best bet.

i am seeing a therapist. yea im so stressed out not knowing which is causing what. if it was even my lyme to begin with after i got treated. it sucks but i guess i will find out soon what is causing the problems. i just am scared im going to die from one of these issues real soon :(

I know how you feel - I've definitely been there. Unfortunately, the more you think about negative possiblities, the more likely they seem. Sometimes we get wrapped up in the mere possibility of a problem that we lose sight of its being very unlikely. If it's of any help - I've probably had at least a hundred days in my life in which I've been certain this disease was killing me. Yet here I am! If you can, try to remind yourself of how strong you are, and how much our bodies can withstand and survive. Maybe try to find ways to take your mind off of thinking about the disease?
