Update & I'm getting and Lyme Culture test

Hi All,

I saw my LLND yesterday and unfortunately, my last Igenenix test was back to reading positive and my co-infection of erlichosis which I had gotten to negative is reading positive again too.  This was from my test that I took on January 27 after I had been on Flagyl for 18 days.  Anyway, I've since gone off all ABX and am doing herbal things (Byron White) herbal drops. 

I am having symptoms returning that seem to come and go like stabbing eye pain, foot pain, vibration in left leg...stuff like that. 

So...my doctor wants me to get the new Lyme Culture test done.  I read that you need to be off all antibiotics including any herbal things for at least a month prior to the test.  I'm wondering if I should wait an entire month or just get the test done now.

I would appreciate any insight on this.

I don't understand why they would have you doing re-testing either. Some doctors use the CD57 test periodically during treatment to gauge progress; is that what you have been getting done repeatedly?

A western blot wouldn't provide much use if you have tested positive already. It would be normal to test fully positive for a year (or years) even after being fully cured; it simply is not designed to indicate an active infection and merely suggests you've been exposed at some point in the past. The culture test is an indication of an active infection, but it seems pretty odd to even do that. If you tested positive and you continue to have symptoms, they would continue treating- getting another positive result wouldn't change that.

Before I switched to this new doctor, my old LLMD (who is one of the top ones in the country) had me test every three months through Igenex so that he could see if the co-infection was getting better and the number of positive bands were decreasing.....

I see your all's points too though. This doctor didn't insist that I be retested with the new testing but talked about it and wanted to know if I wanted to take the test...

I really don't know what I'm doing to be honest. I'm feeling quite depressed and am going to start a new thread.

why not try that fry test or the protosowa they are finding in all lyme nd chronic fatiguwpeople. I thin they are treating it with ivermrvermictin.

I am wondering if that is the same thing that was found in my stool test in 20009.

the thing about the stool test is you have to have a doctor or naturopah get the kit for you from Metametrix . so now I am working on finding a doctor that takes medicare to request the test because the Naturopaths are all wanting too much for te first visit and I just moved back to NY and have to find all new docs. It says on the website that the stool test is covered by bluecross and medicare.
