Cat's claw/samento and abx?

Hey all, just had a question about something I'm surprised to have not even considered before!

Since increasing my dosage of cat's claw, on top of ceftin, minocycline and plaquenil, I've been feeling much worse, and I'm getting a hunch that my body is fighting way too hard, just wondering if it's standard to use both together or not. Is anyone else on cat's claw/samento and abx at the same time?

I haven't started ABX yet, so I can't say anything about combining them with cat's claw.

I would guess, though, that your liver might be overtaxed, so it's unable to remove toxins very effectively, which is why you're feeling worse?

My doc had me on both, but I eventually stopped taking the samento because, while it seemed to help in the beginning, it didn't seem to be doing anything over time. I was going through a period of "pill fatigue": what I call it when I am taking so many medications it feels like my body is having a hard time coping with just processing all of it.

I was just thinking of starting it up again to see if it will help again.

Maybe you need to ease into taking it more gradually.

WWJD20- i had been taking tablets originally but recently just bought the tincture. how many drops does your herbalist have you take? the bottle says 30-40 but i know that given how strong it is, i may want to start off with a much smaller dose

are you not on any antibiotics with the cats claw? im considering going the natural route as well3

My 10 yo daughter and I are both using cat's claw and Japanese knotweed.  She is also on biaxin/rifampin and is about to start tindamax.  We were starting to run low on the knotweed, so I discontinued mine (kept her on them though).  After a couple of weeks on cat's claw only I felt like an old woman.  Achey, creaking joints (hurt to walk up stairs), muscle pain like the flu, but other than that I did not feel sick - weird.  Then it struck me that Buhner always uses knotweed with cat's claw - it acts as an anti-inflammatory.  Cat's claw is used to boost the CD57 subset of the immune system, which I think would increase cytokine production and inflammation.  Japanese knotweed (I buy it as Source Naturals Resveratrol) is an anti-inflammatory.  I stopped the cat's claw (my symptoms were better within 5 days of stopping it) for a while and have now restarted since I received my new shipment of knotweed.  No problems now.  I will not be using cat's claw without Japanese knotweed again.

The paleo diet is great, but it takes a while to get used to cooking that way.  It really helps resolve inflammation problems.  Mark Sisson and Robb Wolf have great websites.

I take the following herbs all together:
-herbal blend that includes samento
-teasel root
-grapefruit seed extract
-smilax gabrila

she wants me to add in olive leaf as well...it's a lot.

I just started samento/banderol last week with my ceftin and biaxin and teasel. It whacked me by day 4 with much increased symptoms. And i was only doing 3 drps each 2x day. I had already decided to not do the banderol as I dropped the bottle and broke it. Took it as a sign that I shouldn't take it. I stopped samento yesterday and immediately felt much better. I am going to try again with cats claw, Japanese knotweed (green dragon is the latest recommended by buhner) and eleuthero. I am doing the latter two now since they are not antibacterial. Will try the cats claw beginning again thus week as I let my clear some ( stopped biaxin too for 2 weeks as I cycle it anyway ). Overall, I have been getting a LOT better but still want to keep zapping the critters.

nono  WHAT???people,people, I see on this forum...that people are taking ceftin, minocycline, samento and teasel at the same time..Really, do you want to kill yourself???this is insane?????take one of them together with a good cystbuster and that is it......plus detox a lot...I took one tablet of minocycline and had heartproblems of the worse kind for halve an hour...ceftin nearly killed me too..i decided to go the herbal route and now i only take Japanese knotweed plus detox.I do use magnesiumoil on my body wich helps greatly to stay calm and with the palpatations...

i would never take so many strong medications together, they interact with eachother and i think it is very very dangerous.....i am extra careful since I already had a deathexperrience and full bodyfailure since more things happened to me besides lyme...infectious diseases like leptospirosis and they even thought i had rabiës at a certain point in India..survived because of vaccins.......i have been deadly ill there....so i could never take these strong medications now.....after nervous system damage..Please, think twice before you put that amount of rubbish into your body......i do also have a question and i hope some of you might help me with this...i have been taking herbs for four years now..on and of samento cat's claw etc....is there a limit....i mean for how long can we take samento safely with interruptions of course......it is difficult to find out weather or not borrelia is no longer reacting to a certain herb...i also red that we shouldn't take japanese knotweed too long...but what is long .we are left in the dark....buhner prescribes it long time in high amounts...others think we need less and shorter periosdds of time??? turn

It seems like if taking an herb for too long maybe it would start causing weird side effects or something, I also heard if the body gets too used to some supposedly switching them around a little could help kick start it a little. I also imagine keeping track on liver enzyme levels might be helpful when treating with herb, I don't know how herbs compare to antibiotics on the liver but I imagine it could pay to keep track in both cases since they probably both process through the liver - herbs and antibiotics.

yeah The reaction was the same with antibiotics...but it is a necessity. Did you happen to feel the sensation of the organisms flushing through your lymph and bloodstream? Then, the herx.

I may go back on it again. I had to deal with parasites and a real sudden wait gain because of the toxins leftover from the "die-off". I added quite a bit more dairy to my diet that made the wait gain worse. shocked It was like a bike tire that suddenly appeared out of NOWHERE and then dissolved as quickly as it came...

Now it is clear there is a problem with digestion, and lipids that have been seeping out of my eyes in tears. So I had to start fruit oils, enzymes, tumeric combinations for digeston and a RAW GREEN alkalizer and detoxifier.

sargento is a very good product. I 'm not sure I would take it at the same time with anything else.
