Self-Treatment with Abx

I was curious to know if anyone here, in an effort to treat themselves due to a lack of co-operation with their doctors, has attempted to treat themselves with antibiotics. I know it's risky to dabble in things like self treatment, but I recently tested positive through Igenex but likely won't be able to afford the costs of seeking a LLMD in the states and won't get treatment in Canada if I test negative on the Elisa.

Has anyone tried this, and done so successfully?

Is a doctor prescribing your antibiotics, or are you obtaining them through different methods? The only reason I ask is that I'll soon have to choose whether to just ignore my symptoms, or head to the United States for treatment as I fear I will likely test negative through the Canadian Elisa protocol. That means either spending a good deal of money for testing and visits outside of the country as well as prescription costs, or I attempt to treat myself. I'm quite stuck.
