So I called the number that was given to me by ILADS. Talked to a lady who said that nothing is covered under insurance. I would have to pay a nice fee to see the doctor.

My question is I have looked at the IGeneX site. Can I as a person order a test with out a doctors consent? How does this work. If so, which test do I need.

I am asking this because the doctor is 3hrs away from me. If I get the test done, and if the results are not in my favor, then I can go to the LLMD.

Sorry if I may sound ignorant, I really did not get much help from the lady I talked to. I left a message with the LLMD nurse but have not heard back from anyone.

You need a doctor's order for Igenex, but it doesn't have to be a "LLMD." Any doctor that you can convince to sign off on it will work.

Perhaps try a naturopathic doctor. Especially if they are covered under your insurance. They are often more open to Lyme diagnosing and treating.

You can order the test from Igenex yourself...however, it must be brought to a Dr. to sign off on as they will only send results to an MD.

Yeah, if you can get a doctor to sign the requisition, then you can send it yourself. I just had a clinic doctor sign mine after I contacted Igenex and had them send me a test kit. I knew my family doctor wouldn't co-operate as he denied any chance of me having lyme, and so I just went to a clinic instead to bypass the hassle. I later went to a lab and had the blood drawn for free (Canada....) and just fedex'd it later that day. Two weeks later it came back positive. Doctor still wasn't willing to help though (Canada....)
