Evenin all,

My oral combination treatment of amoxi, azithro and tini doesnt seem to be cutting it so my LLMD has recommended 1 month of IV Ceftriaxone, 2g/ day. I'm not overly keen on this suggestion, partly because I understand there are gall bladder issues associated with Ceft and partly because I think we should be having a go at the Bart first, which we know I have, and which i havent been treated for yet. I would prefer a lyme/bart oral combo like azithro and rifampin. But hey thats just me and what do I know!

Anyone have any experience with IV Ceft - does it work against Bart as well?

Anyone have any thoughts about non responsive lyme as a consequence of unresolved coinfections?

I used it for 3 months, and was prescribed something called Actigall 2x/day. After 1 month there was a spike in one of the blood tests (I can't remember which) so the Actigall was increased to 3x/day and my levels returned to normal.

I was also on oral rifampin at the same time, so either we have the same doc (mine's in Cali), or your doc's protocol is not so out-there.

I did IV-Rocephin for 1 month at 2grams/day dose. I noticed significant improvements after 3 weeks, unfortunately my ID doc at the time would not allow me to go beyond the 30 days and had my picc line pulled. I regressed very quicky after stopping IV-Rocephin. I think it is the reason that i was so sick for so long.... Should have visited the LLMD right away to get the proper treatment early on.

Anyway... IV-Rocephin is good stuff.. I didn't have any galbladder problems with only 30 days..
Make sure you get meds to protect your galbladder if you are going to do IV-Rocephin long term.
