I've been prescribed Prednisone for tooth issue

Hi All,

I fell and broke a tooth a year ago and have been having problems with it ever since.  Anyhow, my new endodondist wants me to take Prednisone for six days along with Amoxicillin.  I'm a little nervous about the steroids because I know that those and Lyme are not a good mix.

Do you think it's going to be okay to do a short stint of these?  I have to get this tooth issue under control.  I've had two root canals on it.  My first dentist who did the root canal kept telling me "it's just going to take time", etc.  I believed her and kept dealing with the pain.  My endodontist says that he thinks there may have been microscopic tissue still in the tooth and I've inflammation for so long that it's taking a while to get better.  I wonder if my lyme disease is playing a part in this.

Also, I've had terrible hand/foot joint pain for the last few days.  Hopefully that will go away soon.

Anyhow, any thoughts on the predinisone?

Oh geez....that scares me. I have tested positive thru Igenex with erlichosis a number of times... I better send an email to my LLND on this before I do anything... Thank you.

I agree with Summer3 about the steroids - they suppress the immune system which allows the infections to spread unchecked. No one here needs that!! So unless it truly medically necessary, absolutely needed, no way around it, avoid taking steroids.

For inflammation, use turmeric. I take 1500 mgs 3 times a day for my inflammation, and it works very well. There is a lot of research that has been done on this, so it's a proven result.
