Immune Tolerance Test Pharmason Labs - Anyone else have this test?

This was the first test that came back for my 15 yo daughter that was positive but only showing past history of BB,

If you know more or can explain to me more than what this test indicates please let me know. Immune Tolerance Test or Lyme Immune Tolerance Test came back positive. This measures: cell mediated immune response to BB specific antigens-

VisE-1 = 0.8  neg

p100   = 3.7  pos

OspC   = 1.7  neg    

DbpB   = 0.8  neg

DbpA   = 4.4  pos

ITT     is positve

Cytokines  is negative ( too many numbers to post but all within normal)

The results summary read ITT in the absence of cytokine production indicates past exposure to BB with no current inflammation.

How can this be? Her symptoms are so severe how can there be no cytokine response? Does that mean her immune system is not reacting to and therefor not fighting infection? Please help

They are telling you it's a marker for Lyme exposure because they don't believe in chronic Lyme. The Lyme bacteria turn off your immune response,meaning your body will not recognize that the Lyme is even there in the first place. Which, in turn, is why you won't find antibodies to it. Any good LLMD will treat your daughter clinically--based on her symptoms and her test results that do in fact show that she was exposed to Lyme. The question is, what other co-infections does she have? What are her symptoms? Lyme rarely comes alone. Treating the co-infections are just as important as treating the Lyme. Did she have her CD57 count done? This is a Lyme specific fighter cell--the theory is that nothing other than Lyme affects this cell's number. See if you can get that checked as well. Have you been to the 'New To LYme' Thread? There is tons of information on there about everything, including interpreting results. There is one doctor that says if you have even ONE band positive you have Lyme! Do as much research as you can--it helps to make you feel like you have some control. With your help, she'll be able to get well. It takes alot of vigilance--healthy eating, detoxing, taking meds & supplements. But you will hear SO MANY stories on here of people being really, really ill and coming back from this. This place is an encyclopedia of knowledge, so many of us would be lost without it. Start with the 'New to LYme' thread...

One last thing, let go of any notions you have about traditional medicine doctors knowing everything and that they will somehow make everything better. Lyme just doesn't work that way. You need to find doctors/practioners that REALLY understand this disease. It can take some work, but so worth it in the end. My doctor saved me from untold misery. I am so glad I went with my gut feeling and not what some knucklehead doctor was telling me. Good luck!

Thanks Shabbychic. Her lyme Dr. Dx her and started her on antibiotics just from symptoms and took blood same day for all the other tests. He is very educated on lyme and we have just got back from lab for bloodwork for co-infections. The Dr. is 4 hours away and we talk on phone or mail stuff to each other. He also is treating her immune system with all kinds of supplements and natural remedies like cordyceps, berberine, wild oregano oil, and others. So he is treating her holistically.

I have read both pages of the new to lyme and constantly refer back to it. But I did not see the ITT test on the list for lyme tests. We have not gotten the western blot back yet but he just took another one. Labs can be slow and I am learning patience.

Her symptoms are many and severe. Bartonella may be in the mix because she started with a severe rash that would come and go but now she has stretch mark rashes on body. She is herxing bad on doxy but you all have been great about detox info. Her joint pain and back pain are the worst but she also has peripheral neuro signs and fainting. MRI did not show much. I am choosing to give up on other Dr.'s and just go with the Lyme Dx. She has been to so many specialists with no answers. Her derm was great and has called to check up on her since. But the others were terrible. We had some very bad experience like you all have.

 I have read "Cure Unknown" 3 times and am very aware of controversy. It is terrible. We do not live in an endemic part of NY but visit near Philidelphia all the time. That is where she got lyme. We do not have any Dr. near us. Noone here knows much about chronic lyme and how controvertial it is. So thank you for this forum and all your wonderful knowledge.
