I wanted to write a separate post on this as it's a symptom someone somewhere MUST have. I can't be the only one.
Anytime that I exert myself and/or have added stress, I get this burning sensation behind my left ear, just above the mastoid bone in an area that's slightly indented. If I push on it it's a little tender. And if I push from the bottom of my mastoid bone, I can feel a sensation, almost like a bruise. I do not have any of these sensations on my right side. It's like it's inflamed in there. I am currently on Infla-Calm, prescribed by my wonderful LLNP.
This past weekend I did a couple 20 minute yoga routines, just to get some muscle back on my body. Rodney Yee stuff. Felt great after...but then Monday evening I felt like sh&t. The burning sensation was really bad. Seems like it's inflamed in there. And it's always the same spot.
Yesterday I saw my family doctor to have this checked out. He knows my whole Lyme story. Infected last year, went on heavy abx for 9 months with LLMD, then switched 5 weeks ago to LLNP and complete natural abx and supplements. My doctor ordered a mastoid x-ray to see if there's something there. I DO HAVE a mastoid on my left side that is compromised because of ear infections when I was a kid. Slight chronic mastoiditis is what an ENT told me last year, nothing to worry about.
Our theory is that perhaps the Lyme attacked the mastoid and made it worse.
He also prescribed Neurontin (Gabapentin) in case it had to do with the nerves...like when someone has a type of neuralgia. but he admitted this is just a band-aid.
Thoughts? My biggest question is, what the heck is this symptom from?
Thanks for any replies.
