I couldn't even follow a pattern to put together Shish Kabobs just two years ago. I had lost all of my childhood memories, and my

children's growing up memories as well. I couldn't read anything, but it didn't really matter since I couldn't remember what I'd read.

I read this and then later was meditating in my epsom salt hydrogen peroxide bath
and I thought, I would make the neuro appt(I can reschedule, nts.)
after my llmd apt. and if I remember, to ask llmd some questions first.

I too was having many "brain" issues before starting treatment. I am currently on amoxicillin, and have been for four weeks.

Most of my head symptoms (pressure, brain fog, headaches, tingling) have gone away, so there is hope. However, some do make an appearance here and there. I still have been struggling with short term memory, and it is very frustrating and disconcerting.

I also pray that it is reversible. My LLMD has reassured me that it is, and all I can do now is have faith.

Both doxy and amoxicillin are good meds for Lyme. Amoxicillin is considered an IV equivalent by some doctors in high doses. It's similar to bicillin.

Doxy is also good for Lyme if you can take a high dose. Aphysicalwreck, is your doctor lyme-literate? If not, I would get a consult with one to at least determine whether or not your symptoms are from Lyme or something else. That way you can get the correct treatment for your situation.

Well if you had bands 18, 39 and 83-93, those are all specific to Lyme disease. A CD57 can help you with your "case" but most LLMD's would have treated appropriately based on symptoms and specific bands testing positive.

I'm not big on the autoimmune theories in regards to chronic Lyme. I tend to believe that it's not autoimmune but it's the result of an active infection. Particularly if a person has not been adequately treated either through strong herbs or antibiotics. I'm not a doctor, it's just my opinion from talking to doctors and microbiologists about the nature of autoimmune conditions. One microbiologist I know says that it's very rare and against nature for the body to suddenly start attacking itself. She doesn't believe that people with chronic Lyme have symptoms because of autoimmune activity.

It's possible that he feels you don't fit the profile for active Lyme but if I were in your situation I would ask exactly why he feels that way and what type of evidence supports that conclusion. A CD57 can be helpful if it's low, but some people never test low even though they have Lyme. Generally anyone with a CD57 under 100 has active chronic Lyme according to most LLMD's who use that test.

Yes, I'm still in treatment and I'm still sick. I have a very severe case and many co-infections. I cannot afford IV's and herbs have not been extremely helpful for me so I stick with oral antibiotics.

I don't feel like the majority of LLMD's are in it for the money. I do understand your skepticism though because I was VERY hesitant to go to a LLMD at first for the same reason. I think like with any other specialty, you have ones that are more interested in patients as individuals and ones that aren't. I have met MANY of the big name LLMD's in person and most are truly caring and compassionate doctors.

Most of them are unable to take insurance because insurance won't cover Lyme treatment and threatens to take their license for treating outside the IDSA guideline. So basically, these doctors are risking a lot in treating a controversial illness. They could easily make just as much money specializing in other conditions but they choose to work in a risky field that puts their professional licenses at risk.

You don't have to treat with antibiotics. You could always try the herbal route. Some people have great success with that. Nobody has all the answers about how to treat chronic Lyme. It's up to us to research and decide what we feel is best for our bodies.

I was perfectly healthy despite multiple tick bites every year and I never was concerned about Lyme. I never got tested after bites and I never had any treatment. Last year, an improperly removed engorged tick activated a very severe illness with a 105 fever, rash, etc. Since then I have gone on to develop numerous symptoms including neurological involvement and multiple organ involvement. I have no abnormal tests except for those centered around Lyme and co-infections. I am not concerned at all in using antibiotics long-term to treat a severe infection and I am someone who NEVER took any medications prior to Lyme.

In all of my research on both IDSA and ILADS points of view, I have never heard of an autoimmune response cross-reacting with Lyme-specific bands. That sounds extremely unlikely to me. Those specific bands react with certain parts of the Lyme bacteria like flagella (tails of spirochetes) outer surface proteins, heat shock proteins etc.

I would try the natural doctor or whomever takes insurance (if that's an option) first. Then shop around and see if you can find one that's affordable if that doesn't work out. Remember, that usually your labs and meds are still covered (other than IV's). So the main cost involved is the office visits and most have about 1 visit per month.

I have a lot of tingling on top of my head. As a matter of fact, today it was really severe and I was thinking about how it drives me completely nuts and that I'm going to ask my LLMD if this is a common symptom of Lyme. Sounds like it is.

ive had brain issues as well were i forget everything, i have to look art the door 3 times to make sure its lo0oked even tho i just looked at it i could remember.
i was suppose to be getting my drivers last year, before i was even on treatment. he would have tryed to tell 3 or more times how to park acar and id already forget. he got got really mad, but i couldnt remember to save my life. i didnt end up getting my drivers then, but i was able to drive around alittle bit, it just make it very hard when i couldnt remember simple things, like what way to turn ect. and having a headack all the time was to hard not to think about it.
i my self cant read with out getting a headack, so if its soimething i need to know i eiher go on you tube or listen to a cd. i am very thankful i am on much needed treatment. im getting tho a natural doctor.
