Hi 7yrsandcounting!
Howdy neighbor! I live in Arkansas!
Welcome to our forum!! I'm so sorry for all that you and your most wonderful family have been through so far! What we & our families go through is very similar to what Cancer patients and their families go through - only they have the recognition of their disease!
If you haven't yet, please do read through our "New to Lyme? Start here!" thread that wits at the top of the forum. It's packed full of informative links, great information, symptom lists - as Lyme rarely travels by itself, and even some questions your LLMD may need to be asked!
You should not have been in treatment for 7 years and be this ill! You should have a reduction in symptoms soon after starting effective treatments. You can see what symptoms you are having and what symptoms are generally considered from which infections by going over the symptom lists in the "New to Lyme?" thread. That could be one reason you have not had any real progress.
Another possibility is that abx won't work for you. I had that happen. I spent a full 12 months on abx only to get worse - a lot worse! The first two months after stopping abx, I spent bed ridden trying to recover. I turned to herbal treatment and have had good progress since the third month of my Lyme treatment, and 2 months after starting my Bartonella treatment. This is truly amazing when I consider that I've had these infections for over 40 years without any adequate treatment.
Now for that wonderful, supportive wife of yours. There is a site called "Lyme Spouse" (
www.lymespouse.org/) that is designed just for those who have a loved one dealing with these infections! It's for their support, not ours. It explains what we are going through, some of our odd behaviors at times and what may trigger it, and more. Something I would highly suggest that you two check out! Your daughter would do well to check it out as well. I'm sure it will help her to explain what's going on with Grandpa to her son.
You can get through this to a brighter side of life! It will take a lot of hard work and a lot of diligence, but healing is out there!
