Flu Shot Question?

Just wondering if I should get the flu shot. I never have before but now since I have Lyme I was wondering should I, or is it dangerous to get it when you have lyme?

I have always taken a small dose of Oscillococcinum (a homeopathic remedy - most health food stores sell it) once a week to prevent catching the flu. It works better than the shots because it is not specific to only one strain of the flu virus. And if I do manage to catch the flu (has only happened when I've forgotten to take the homeopathy...), taking the Oscillococcinum reduces the severity of symptoms and shortens the length of time I am sick.

I've never gotten one. I was always pretty healthy and didn't want to take any unnecessary rx's... plus I was in my early 30's and was healthy and happy.

Now, I see the "flu shot" posters in the IV clinic every morning and it just doesn't seem like a good idea to me because I'm so sick. I know it's probably very illogical and since I'm immune compromised I should probably get one.... but I'm going to follow my gut on this one and just skip it again. I will add though that my husband and step-kids always get one and my father-in-law and grandmother used to always get one and my parents do. It seems to work well for them.

All vaccines are to be avoided if possible. I needed to go to Africa 2 years ago (couldn't avoid it), but went without the yellow fever shot (it was recommended, but not obligated in that country - I didn't go to the jungle part of the country, and it wasn't raining season), I got the Hep A vaccine (I already had some antibodies, but not enough), and that was already hard to handle, I came back with a very serious pneumonia that took me 3 to 4 months to heal cause it pulled down my immunity even more.

Yea, I never have gotten one before and don't plan on it. Really I think most drs push it b/c of herd immunity so I'm all for other people getting the shot - just not me.

I have a four month old baby at home so I got the flu shot about two weeks ago. Feel the same, not worse or better, but my white blood cell count came down a little. I was wondering if the flu shot had something to do with that.
