Does anyone know how Lyme and co-infections are being treated in people with kidney failure.   My doctor doesn't think I would tolerate antibiotics, and she doesn't want to use a lot of herbs because of the possibility of them reaching toxic levels due to the kidney failure.   Right now I'm using homeopathic remedies and a few supplements, but I'd like to do more.   She said I can try hyperbaric oxygen therapy +/or rife, so I'm looking into those.   Does anyone know anything else that might work?

I don't have a lot of info on Lyme treatments/kidney failure, but to me, Rife and HBOT seem like good options to try. Do you know if medications that are normally filtered by the liver would be an option?

Although I wouldn't discourage you from finding other treatments that would help you to heal, here is an article that your Doc may want to see. It's in the "Clinical Kidney Journal", so it takes a membership to see the whole article, but I'm sure your doc can get that access.

Summer3: I'm not sure about medications that are normally filtered by the liver being an option for me. I'll have to ask my Lyme dr. Thanks for your input.

Traveler: Thanks for the link to the "Clinical Kidney Journal" abstract. I'm sure one of my doctors should have access to the full article. If not, one of my friends who is a professor should be able to get it for me.

The hyperbaric treatment should be a benefit in addition to whatever treatment you may use. I worked on a dialysis floor for years, and we frequently gave multitudes of antibiotics. The dosages were adjusted down according to the patients creatinine levels. MRSA was common so many were on Vancomycin. Is this a nephrologist or Lyme MD? Possibly they could put their heads together and come up with a treatment plan. Where I work, the nephrologist always has the last say on treatment for a kidney failure patient.

Thanks for the reply Lighterbeing. That is good information to know. My Lyme doctor is an N.D. I'm not sure how seriously my nephrologist takes my Lyme. I'm still thinking about the hyperbaric treatment and Rife too.
