Hi everyone,

I'd posted last month looking for an LLMD with no luck, so I'm trying again! I'm willing to travel to surrounding states for a doctor I can trust. As it stands now, my PCP is obviously done dealing with me. My symptoms had been getting better over the last few weeks, but they seem to be coming back again.

Anyway, my question is this: My husband came down with the flu starting the day after Christmas, and is only just now getting back to normal. If I have lyme, wouldn't I be getting very sick considering my immune system would be compromised already? I've always thought my immune system was a rock star - no matter how many sick people I've been around, I rarely get anything more than a mild cold on occasion (once every 2-3 years maybe). But I feel like if I had lyme, I would definitely be more susceptible to other illnesses...especially considering I never get a flu shot.

Anyone have any insight into this? Could this be a sign that I don't have lyme after all?? confused

Hi there,

We've had this conversation before but I can't remember the thread,sorry.

However,some of us here with chronic Lyme,don't seem to catch anything,our immune systems are so compromised that they don't recognise infections and therefore we don't display any symptoms,wierd isn't it?

I'm a teacher and pupils are constantly coughing and sneezing at me,do I catch anything? No, I haven't been ill(except for Lyme) since Autumn 2011.

Tickled is right, it's because our immune system is so busy that we don't display symptoms, even though we still carry the virus - so be careful who you get around - you could infect them!

It never occured to me that I could be infectious.

Well, thank you kind lady,

You once wrote that you aren't" the sharpest pencil in the box"-rubbish if I may be so bold.

Funnily enough,I seem to have caught a cold,runny nose, sneezing.

Actually, I'm quite chuffed about this,it could be a sign that my immune system is kicking in at last,which would be good.

I never thought that catching a cold would be welcome!!!!!

How are you doing? Putting my Mum in a care home(she had Parkinson and Dementia) was one of the most heart breaking things that I have ever done.

I still have a guilty feeling and she passed away 12 years ago.

Keep your pecker up.

Yep, being able to catch a cold isn't something most people would celebrate! Giggle!

Hubby and I are hanging in there together - we were good friends before we got married almost 13 years ago, and our friendship has strengthened since then, so we both have a good friend to help us get through this. Thank you so much for your kind words, thoughts and encouragement. It means a lot to me!! :-)

Hi MissKlemenz,

I'm new to this whole thing as well, and have not been diagnose.  I'm in the process of trying to find an LLMD (preferably via referral), but haven't had any luck so far (I live in western MA). Have you been successful in finding someone? Also, I'm not sure this forum allows for PM's, I think you need to enable the email feature via your profile...
