Hi Casey,
Wow - I have been so busy being well that I almost forgot this forum exists! The auto message saying there had been another post is certainly helpful!
I went back on antibiotics for another three months, and in July I came off them entirely. I have never done any herbal treatment so it was just the Doxycycline/Tinidazole. I haven't taken another tablet since.
I am still well, in fact I feel even better every month. For the first couple of months I was scared I would get sick again and I do still worry about this. Every cough and cold makes me nervous, but it is slowly getting easier. I still have a small amount of nerve pain, but nerves take months or even years to heal and so this is to be expected. But, other than that there is nothing - no headaches, no fatigue, no anxiety... nothing! I am back to normal life, and it is fabulous. It is only a matter of time, and the right medication, and I'm sure you will all get there too.
When I got sick again in April when I came off the antibiotics I was properly ill again within a week. Not nearly as bad as before treatment, but I started getting crippling headaches again. I would say that within three weeks you should have a good idea either way. Your anxiety might well be due to the other factors you mentioned though if this is the main symptom - the stress of stopping meds and seeing if you get sick again can't be underestimated!
Another thought is that the antibitics could have given you thrush, which can cause some of the symptoms you mention. Are you taking probiotics?
It can take a while for your body to adjust to any medication change. Perhaps it would be best to continue the anti-anxiety meds for a little longer? Best to talk to your doctor.
Good luck,
Kirsty
