there's one thing I continue having difficulties with...

My 'distorted notion of time'...

That one is a really difficult and frustrating one to deal with.

Where other people have so much time for doing things during the day, I can't. They can get up, go to work, do a hobby, do sports, do their household, have a social life and still have time off. I can't even imagine doing several 'me-things' in 1 day. Do they have another notion of time? Notion of time seems very relative to me right now...

I know I shouldn't get stressed about that... just take 1 thing at a time...

Like today: slept in, made soup and ate it, did some meditation - it's already 6.15 pm, day is almost over... still have to do laundry, cook for dinner...

I definitely understand what you mean! Everyday around 5 or 6 on I wonder how it's possible that I feel like I've been "going" all day, but haven't accomplished much of anything.

For me, I think it's just that I moving at half the pace of "normal" people, so I'm not getting nearly as much accomplished!

It's not uncommon for me to have a day where all I manage to do is feed, change, bath and play with my son. I panic at his nap time, because I realize I have ten thousand things to do and only an hour to do it! The next thing I know he's awake and all I've done is had a bite to eat, made a quick phone call and peed. LOL! :)

I agree. Time is definitely weird with Lyme. I just had a breakthrough, and now I have more energy. I can get two things done a day instead of just one. The day feels twice as long, but still half as long as before I got sick. Usually my time sense is great but now it's totally thrown off! I keep checking the food in the oven when it's only half done. And I've given up on being at all like a normal person when taking care of myself takes up half the day.

Also, I'm 20, but I feel like I'm only 18 because for the 3 years I've been sick, I've been sleeping more and doing less. It feels like less time has passed for me. Which sucks, because I really am 20. Life really is slipping by. Got to make the half-day I've got count.

It's really strange, Lymer. People don't notice me being slow or anything, but I just don't get things done. They say that turtles or sloths have a different notion of time - maybe I'm turning into a sloth - it would be so great to sleep all day long, and people would still find me cute for it - LOL turn

Minici: you must be so glad that you just had a breakthrough - you must have been working hard for that!
Maybe we all stopped aging, and we'll all be younger than the others with the same age once we're cured! smilewinkgrin

Minici, I just thought to myself yesterday, how am I 32 years old? I feel like I'm 99 physically, but as far as where I am in life, I feel like I'm still in my early twenties. When I was pregnant with my son (at age 31), my OB asked, "why did you wait so long to have a child?" At the time I had no answer. However, at the time I also didn't know I had lyme, but now I feel certain I've had it for at least 12 years. I guess all those years I was just working twice as hard to keep up with life, just getting by!

I try to stay positive, but sometimes it's hard not to think about where I might be now if I'd never gotten this disease :-/
