Hi Desperado,
Welcome to the forum!
Your story makes me kind of think of my own story, except that I had the symptoms for much longer. Your dr probably didn't prescribe strong probiotics when he treated you for strep and staph infections?
Since you've been looking around here for a while, I think you must have read the "New to Lyme? Start here!" thread? There's lots of very useful information on there.
I'm European, so others will have to inform you about finding a dr without having health insurance. You could start a thread 'Seeking LLMD in ........' and add someting like 'no health insurance'. I'm sure people will get you some ideas. If you start a thread like this, be sure you enable your email, so you can receive pm's (we're not allowed to post dr's names on the forum).
You sure have a lot of symptoms going on. I had the whole not working digestive system going on too. My dr repaired my leaky gut, IBS, gastritis, GERD, congrolled my food allergies and then got to the Lyme/Bartonella.
If I may say, sorry, I don't want to critizise at all. I had huge digestive problems, at a certain moment I couldn't leave the house at ease, cause I had unexpected diarrhea, heavy cramping, etc... alcohol and cigarets are not good for the digestive system, it irritates it more. I totally understand your urge to escape from your terrible situation though (I sometimes say to my friends I would like to get so wasted just to get some time off this whole situation, but I'm allergic to alcholol so it's not an option anymore )
I was just thinking this too: was your thyroid function tested? Is your diabetes still well-controlled?
My head is cloudy today, sorry for jumping from one subject to the other...
I'm sure others will chime in.
Marie
