OT - My FIL just passed this afternoon

Hi All,
For those of you who don't know, I've been away taking care of my Father-in-law who was in the last stages of Alzheimer's. He was completely ambulatory and living on his own just 9 weeks ago. His rate of decline has surprised even the Hospice nurses that were so very wonderful to all of us. He passed at 3:30 this afternoon.

It's been a very hard and long road, with the last two weeks requiring round the clock care with dosing medications and other things.....but it's all over with now. No more pain, no more frustration that his body was working against him, that he couldn't find that word or say it when he did know the word.

I want to thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart, for all that you have done in my absence. You all are amazing. Thank you.

I should be back on here next week. I really need time to recover.... we never did get any respite care as my FIL was declining so quickly.

Oh, and I forgot to add......my goats are in labor right now. We should have babies tonight - sometime. eyes It's going to be another long night, but at least this time it's about starting life.

Oh traveler! I am so sorry to hear this news. You will be in my thoughts. Please rest and recover. It has been a difficult ride for you these past few months.

Traveler, I am so sorry. His suffering is now over and you and loved ones can begin the healing process that will make it easier to accept and cope with this loss. The burden for you is now lifted, as well as for him. I hope you can surround yourself with love and understanding. It makes it so much easier. It did for me. Sending Cyber hugs your way, Cathy

I am so sorry for the loss of your FIL. He was blessed to have you in his life and I am sure visa versa.

Baby goats are being born at the barn that I board my horse. They are just so cute. The hand raised babies are flitting about the barn and into everything on occasion.

Do try to rest when you can.

Dearest Trav,

My deepest condolences for the passing of your FIL. I know how hard it is to watch your loved one pass; but also the relief of knowing that his suffering is over. It's a reminder to all of us of how very precious life is.

Dearest, dearest Traveler,

I'm so very sorry for your loss...  You are an angel on this earth for being so unselfish and taking care of him.  You were a true "gift" to your FIL.  May your FIL now rest in peace.

I am very very sorry to hear of your loss. I know that you cared deeply for your FIL due to the sacrifice that you made for him. His suffering is over, and I hope that you and your husband can soon heal from the loss. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Oh Traveler, I'm so sorry to hear this...
He had the best care a person could dream of. Please take some rest so you can recover too!

Goats in labor... that makes me think of my childhood... we had goats too. The thing I remember the most is that after giving birth, the moms would get lukewarm coffee with lots of sugar in it. They would attack it!

Oh Traveler! So, so sorry for your loss! How lucky he was to have such a loving son and daughter-in-law! I know you worked really hard at providing him optimum comfort and that healing will come back to you.
