I was wondering if anyone else had this experience with Advanced Labs. My daughter and I had band 23 present on our LabCorp tests. We were told that would mean our Advanced Labs test would come back positive for lyme as a result. We just received it back, and they are both negative.

I'm confused as to why it came back negative. If we have a band present, and it is active, shouldn't that mean that our Advanced Lab test is positive as well?

I'm not really familiar with Advanced labs - but I'm guessing it's a speciality lab where you got a lyme test?

Band 23 by itself wouldn't be considered positive. You need multiple bands to be considered positive, which is why doctors are supposed to diagnose clinically. IMO it's ridiculous that some doctors see certain positive bands and just shrug it off and say it doesn't mean anything if it's not 100% positive.

I'm not sure who told you that having that band present would make another test positive...the only thing I can think of is that since the labcorp tests are so inaccurate, and they use outdated CDC standards to determine a positive test, that you're much more likely to test positive through a specialty lab. Let us know how it goes!

Hi,

I had IgM bands 23 and 39 come back positive, but my Advanced Labs culture was negative (they kept it in the lab for 10 weeks). Based on the negative culture, normal CD57 (67), and negative results for co-infections (Bartonella, Babesia), my doctor decided that I probably don't have Lyme, after all.

I've had CFS for over 7 years and also tested positive for FL1953.

Thanks everyone. We did take the tests prior to going on any treatment. Also, the tests were run for 10 weeks.

Advanced Labs should show a positive result if ANY band was found in the LabCorp test. It's supposed to be a conclusive test. It finally gives us a positive result, when the LabCorp test says negative with only 1 band.

I will look into the FL1953. We are also positive for Bartonella. It seems unlikely to have positive results for Bartonella, but to be negative for lyme. Although, I am finding with lyme, nothing is as it should be. I also have an incredibly high CD57. From my past living situations, it seems unlikely it is from mold, but more likely from lyme toxicity.

It's all so confusing! To make matters worse, we're treating my 2 year old as if she has lyme, and waiting on the results on my 10 month old to see if he has it as well. If we're coming back negative, but are positive, and he comes back negative, I don't know what to think. Ah! It's all just so frustrating!!

I am being treated for lyme and my 2 young sons are also. They have also showed positive for multiple co-infections. They were tested through Advanced lab and both are shown as negative. Now my one son has cleared his co-infections so the doctor is going to stop treatment. I feel as if there is still some symptoms from the lyme but then I wonder maybe they are just from something else. I get worried because I've often read about people that think they are better and then it only returns later. very frustrating to me.

Lymemommy0422, did your 2 year have any symptons? What tests did you do for your kids? I tested my 3 year old through igenex and he had bands 39 and 41 positive but with no symptons so llmd adviced me not to treat. My almost 2 year old got multiple em rashes and got treated but then when I did the advance culture it came back positive at 8 weeks. He has been sympton free since treatment so I am really confused. He already took so much antibiotic I don't know what to do from here.

Discouraged to hear about those Advanced Labs results. That is the lab ghat consulted with Dr Burrascano and Dr Mcdonald whom I respect. I was hoping their culture testing would become more effective and a standard. I wonder did anyine witb these conflicting results call advanced labs to see if they couls explian the inconsisency? Makes me wonder if any of the fests are really effective diagnosis tools. Makes me sad. We live in a world that requires proof, we knlw we are sick and there has to be a cause but no reliable way yo find out.
