Hi CleoKay,
Welcome to our little community! It seems that you and I have a lot in common! LOL! Not necessarily a good thing!
I too was first infected at the age of 7, although I was 47 before I finally got effective treatment. I'm glad that you are able to get some help sooner!
If you haven't already, it would be helpful for you to start with reading through the thread at the top of the forum titled,
"New to Lyme?...Start here!!", as it is packed full of important information, symptom lists (as Lyme rarely occurs by itself), helpful links and pdf's, how to detox when one has these infections, and a list of questions that you can ask any doctor that you are seeking treatment from!
We also have a pretty good search function on this forum to help you narrow down your search for information from past posts. We must be our own health advocates now and the best thing to arm yourself with is knowledge about
our infections and the different ways to treat them!
Start with your diet. You need to eat, and as healthy as you can. I understand how tight things are for you and your family - I've walked that road as well, but you have to do this. I'm sure your kids won't mind if they don't take the last two bites of those veggies & whatever else you are eating that day to help Mom get better. Without the nutrition, you will have a much, much harder time healing.
And drink all the water you can right now - 64 ounces or more a day. If you can afford even a bottle of lemon juice and you don't have a lot of issues with muscle cramps/spasms/twitching add 2 capfulls of lemon juice to each 32 ounce of water. This will help flush toxins that have been building in your body out so that your body can concentrate on healing rather than dealing with toxins. This is also the reason for detoxing as I mentioned above.
As you probably have already figured out, LLMD's are expensive for someone in your position. You can heal with herbs, as Justme said in her post, I did. It takes a lot of work, but it can be done! If you really want to use a LLMD though, please email me by clicking on the little blue envelope under my screen name. I may possibly have a name and contact info for you.
Next is detoxing, start off slow though - with no tub, you need to start off with peroxide/Epsom salt foot soaks. Use about
3 cups of Epsom Salts and 16 ounces of peroxide in something that will hold that - one of the buckets from the garden if necessary! It's that important! Use luke warm water and only keep your feet in for 10 minutes to start. This may make you feel worse to begin with(herxing), that's why you need to start off with only 10 minutes in the water.
I have had trouble doing a full body detox in a tub from the beginning, it always made me herx so badly! So I've only been able to do the full body detox soaks in the last year of my treatments and then only one per week, if that. The rest of the time I've used the foot soaks.
Have you ever had your thyroid levels checked? What about
your adrenal glands? If so, what were the results? Chances are that both are really struggling right now and will need supplementation. You can do some reading on this site:
www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ to help you decide if you need to supplement, since you can't really get to a doc and have the tests done. Swelling of the eyelids & face is something that I get when mu thyroid is off. The exhaustion is likely due in part to low functioning adrenal glands.
You are not alone in this any longer!! We are all here for you to learn from and to get suggestions from! Also, you can feel free to email me anytime that you think you would benefit from it.
