Anyone heard of/tried UltraViolet Blood Irridation?

Recently I spoke to an ND who recommended UVBI (UltraViolet Blood Irridation) for lyme, co-infections, etc.  Has anyone heard of this or tried it?

I asked him (the ND) what he would do if he had late stage lyme and bartonella. He replied UVBI. I guess your blood runs under/through an ultaviolet light that kills all bacteria, parasites, virus, etc. Then the blood is returned to the body. It's sounds logical, but would take a lot of treatments!

I don't think it would work for Lyme because Lyme does not like to stay only in the blood - it prefers the tissues where it can hide from the immune system and abx. So irradiating the blood won't really get at the Lyme that is in hiding...

I just recently started UVBI ... I have only had two treatments.

I have done my research and have talked to all of my doctors ... it is something I really wanted to do and am anxious to see what/if any response I will have.

The best thing I could recommend ... if you are interested ... find a doctor that provides UVBI as a therapy option and make an appointment (or call their clinic) to ask questions. They may be able to provide you with materials to make a choice that is right for you.

The information I have is printed material that was given to me by my doctor ... that is why I recommend speaking directly to a physician or clinic that provides the therapy. I feel they are a much better resource than I can be.

I am not doing the treatment because I have lyme ... I have been diagnosed with two autoimmune conditions, and that is why I started considering my options ... I am on antibiotic protocol per my LLMD recommendations and have tried integrative approaches along the way. Some have helped, and some have not.

I just wanted to pop in and let others know I have heard of it, and just recently started ... once I see any response (one way or the other) I will be happy to share :)

I did UVB treatments about 4 years ago for Ebstein Barr with a Doctor in Atlanta.  Treatments cost $55 each, affordable.  Living a couple hours away, I opted to do them closer together & was on the couch for a month...knocked me for a loop!  I also have longterm mold exposure/illness....at the time I did not know I had lyme (just diagnosed but have had it for years apparently).  I had been so dysfunctional with fatigue that I had to try something & my doctor recommended it.  I did 5 treatments and truly credit UVB to a HUGE change in my quality of life!  I don't know if I was sick from the EBV, lyme or mold or ALL COMBINED but this truly turned my health around to where I was functional.  I had been so sick & fatigued that I felt I was slowly dying.  I wouldn't hesitate to do them again, in fact am thinking of that as the recent tick bites have really got me dysfunctional with fatigue once again.  I also know of another top Atlanta doc who is privvy to UVB.  I, myself, am more concerned with using abx as I have severe candida issues from mold illness.  Good luck.  Do your homework, I just wanted to add my experience. 

It's different thing, UV is bad in general, it causes hardening or shading(I don't remember) of the lens that is in your eyes. It also causes skin problems but kills germs. I always thought that whatever is in the blood is killed by ABx anyways. What about those that are in the tissue, between the cells? In Japan they were taking iodine. If not taken in time and in high enough dosage your thyroid would accumulate radioactive isotope. I'm not 100% sure

about UVBI... I asked my ND about this and he said not something he would use for spirochete
as someone else posted, they aren't in the blood.
He said it would be good for other issues which weren't a concern for me.
But... if someone does it, and it makes them feel better... I say enjoy the benefits!

I had 8 sessions of U.V.B.I. the summer of 2014. Igenix Lyme test was positive before U.V.B.I., and negative after. However, it didnt kill the mycoplasma and chlamydophila pneumonaei, and my virals are currently HIGH... Im currently seeing a new ND as my last ND retired. My new doc suggested doing U.V.B.I again, but honestly now Im concerned about any, IF there is any, adverse effects from the ultra violet ir-RADIATION.

Back in 2014, I did suģgest using U.V.B.I, based on the book, 'Into the light', but please keep in mind the book discusses studies done ONLY on acute illness not chronic or late stage Lyme.

I do this along with ozone every time I see my doc.
I like the way it trains the immune system-kind of creates your own vaccine.
If I lived closer to my doc I would do this twice a week for a couple months at least

I want ti get it done as well. But still cannot get any list of drs. in my area.
