Well since my dr. Reduced my meds due to severe herxing (like I felt like I was dying) I do feel that I am at a manageable herxing level. Very mild compared to the stuff ive dealt with.

But the anxiety and also depression that comes out of no where really gets to me. This is the worst for me. It feels like I dont have control over my mind or emotions anymore.

Does anyone have anxiety as a herx? Wondering if this is normal...any suggestions? I'm trying to avoid pharma's but have been taking a small dose of lorazapam when it seems unbearable :(

I'm just on doxy right now and will start back on biaxin in small doses nxt week. Trying to see thr light at the end of the tunnel...please tell me there is one...

Hi Heather -- you and I both became very sick at the exact same time. I also am desperately batteling extreme anxiety and depression. I have "upgraded" haha-to Clonopin (sp) for my rediculous anxiety and am heavily medicated to sleep and for depression that this has brought on. I know there's hope for us. For now I can sympathize and tell you I'm really sorry we're going through this. Sending healing energy and love. -- yogi

I have had issues with depression and anxiety very severely and they were not typical symptoms for me until Lyme hit. B12 shots help me tremendously with both symptoms.

Summer-- same here. No prior anxiety of this severe of depression. Where do you get your b-12 shots?

my first lyme symptom was anxiety and panic attacks. They suck, but they do go away with treatment. I always know when I am having a relapse, because the anxiety will come back with full force. Anxiety meds were always helpful for me when the anxiety was at an unbearable level. Hang in there, it will get better.

Maxam, when in your progression of treatment did the anxiety start to abate? I am in my 2nd month almost and woke up with a panic attack-- I have anxiety from Lyme but is magnified today to an almost unbearable extent. Does anyone ever get back to "normal" after this?!?! Thank You--

Thank you for all your input. I finally had an ok day today. Although the anxiety was there, it was more in the background and I could distract myself from it. I'm sorry you all have this issue as well but at least I know it it par for the course, I guess! This disease is full of nasty surprises!

I do have lorazapam but try not to take it usually. But to heck with that, I'm tired of suffering ;)

I think I will look into the B-12. Do you think I would notice any difference on just a oral or does it have to be the injection? I'm trying to be cheap...

Heather, saw my dr yesterday. He recommended Byron White's
A-Bart. I took one drop last night - in three days will take 2 drops and in three more days will take 3 drops etc until reaching 20 per day. I'm exhausted this morning, which is a pleasant surprise from all the hyperactivity and anxiety and I've noticed many on the site say the same about it making one tired. He estimates I should start feeling better in 4 to 6 months. Also mentioned Banderol and Semento. What are you taking?

I find it so weird that my husband's symptoms started to increase when he had a series of B12 injections back in 2011. The doctor said he was low in B12 so he started taking them in the spring. Before the shots, he was having a problem with his thumb..that was it. After starting the B12, he began having problems with his arms and fingers in his right hand. It almost seems counterintuitive since B12 aids in maintaining a healthy nervous system and his symptoms were neurological. Maybe the injections- not the B12 itself - triggered the Lyme reactions. I don't know, but we have wondered why that happened. Toby suffers from depression/anxiety so he takes the vitamins in pill form. It's hard to tell if it is herxing or his feelings because he has a lot on his plate. He is definitely more emotional than he was prior to getting ill. Like a lot of men, he hid his feelings a lot. He really doesn't want to ever get the injections again after that experience. I can't blame him.

Anxiety was one of my worst lyme symptoms and it is totally gone now after years of treatment. I used xanax to get me through the worst of days and had no problem at all coming off of it.

Cat, your husband probably has methyl trapped and needs l-methyltetrahydrofolate and absolutely no folic acid.

Thank you for the reply PathogenKiller. I have not heard of that. Do you know what causes that to happen? Is it possibly due to the Lyme? Do you think the "trapped methyl" could have caused any of his "ALS" symptoms, like muscle atrophy, joint issues in his right hand (two bent fingers that can't be straightened), and loss of functionality in not only his hands but his arms (can't do what he wants them to do)? If so, do you the l-methyltetrahydrofolate treatment could possibly help him regain any of it? His doctor said he may or may not regain function due to nerve damage. Of course, we are so hoping he will be able to. The worse part of the functioning issue is not being able to use his hands very well. People have to be able to use their hands to do anything and he worries about being able to hold down his job. I will look up this info. too. Again,thank you so much for your input.
