How do you cope? The bed is moving, the floor is moving, I lean on counters when I talk to people. It's 24/7.

It can be AWFUL. It comes in waves for me. My longest bout was like a month. The way I describe it is like a constant high gravity elevator woop feeling or like walking on a trampoline. I've learned to to just go with it and just pretend I'm living life in expert mode. Its definitely annoying....

Thank you. You describe it perfectly! Your analogy made me laugh- living life in expert mode. I am trying to just go with it, as well. For some reason standing in the shower is often the absolute worst. It literally feels like I'm on an airplane that is going through turbulence, and I have to plant my feet to remain steady. I guess it's kind of like being on a surfboard, and just riding the wave.

Haha no problem. I believe it has something to do with inflammation in the vestibular nerve. I've noticed that it would get exaggerated when ever I sneezed or coughed so definitely hold on when that happens haha.

Yes to the showers, sneezing and coughing. I, too, plant my feet against the sides of the tub to keep my balance. Just another annoying symptom.

Me too. When I wash up at the sink at night I lean up against it. It seems to be a bigger problem at night then it is in the morning.

LOL! Just don't close your eyes for long in the shower!! Every time I would do that when I had that vertigo, I either fell or crumpled to the bottom of the shower!! LOL!!

Mine has improved some while using Heel Detox kit. When I stopped using it, it got really bad again so I'll continue to use it each day.

Traveler, that made me laugh! I'm always trying to wash my hair with my eyes open, and it works until I get soap in them!

LOL!! Careful, now you're sounding like me! smhair Since I would always loose my balance when I closed my eyes, I didn't dare close them - soap and all in my eyes!! LOL! I tried to get hubby to install a safety grab bar inside the shower, but we have a very small shower and it wouldn't leave enough room for hubby to even turn around!! LOL!!

So vertigo and balance issues are "normal" for lymies?!? Does anyone know what triggers theirs to flare up?

God yes... I think it has to do with neurotoxins and possibly vestibular nerve inflammation. Probably the symptom I hate most when I get it.

Me too, Will. Fact is, I told myself during the midst of a really bad flare up this past week that I would never complain of any of my other symptoms again if this one would just go away for good.

It's about Lyme- I have told myself the very same thing! I have even asked to please trade in the vertigo for pain, instead.

Will228- I think you are right about the vestibular nerve inflammation. Before I got my Lyme dx, I was sent to a vestibular therapist for therapy. I did home exercises for almost 4 months. What I find interesting is that my vertigo has gotten worse since I stopped the vestibular therapy. I am even considering starting again. However, it's hard to tell if stopping therapy has made it worse, or just the antibiotics.

Hello all. I ran across this as I was researching my dizziness causses. Mine started 7 yrs ago, and have been tested for so many things couldnt begin to list them all. Having been a nurse for 20 yrs I had an advantage or so I yhought. My dizziness along with other weird symptoms I have seen u guys discussing here. I have been told that I was checked for Lyme disease. One post talked about not having family support. I can relate. This is do unpredictable that my family thinks I am making it up.
