Just stopping by to thank people from this forum for support and information when I needed it and to let you know that I am feeling so much better. (It's good to hear the progress as well as the struggles, yes?) I'm thrilled with my progress and my doc is too. It's so good to feel like I have my life back.
Turns out that I did have babesia as well as lyme. My babs symptoms were pretty subtle so it was hard to tell but I responded really well to the cryptolepis which answered that question. I don't know that there was any one thing that got me better - I really think it was the combination of things and patiently sticking with the treatments and working with a LLND who helped me unravel all the barriers that were interfering with my healing.
I am currently off all abx (since May 20th!) and taking a couple of herbals and chelating for heavy metals. My lead and cadmium levels are high and my doc is thinking that the lingering neurological stuff may be due to that (after being kicked off by the lyme & babs). Time will tell with this just like everything else over the past 1 1/2 years.

Hi that's great news. I was wondering if you could tell me what the subtle Babs symptoms you were dealing with. I'm trying to figure out if I have a mild case. Thanks.

I actually bookmarked it because I could not read the entire thing all at once, but I definitely want to take it all in. Thanks so much for that. It is so great that you are feeling so much better. Best to you always!!!

Garfield, that is awesome news! It gives all of us hope of recovery. I myself want to get off ABX because of the side effects just waiting for the last remaining stubborn symptoms to leave! I hope to be like you soon.
Keep on feeling good!

Wow! Thanks for all of the encouraging comments everyone. Thanks also for the compliments on my blog. If it wasn't for Lyme I probably wouldn't have a blog at all so it is one more good thing that has come from the experience.
As far as the subtle symptoms of babs - for me the biggest thing was night sweats 2-3 times a week as well as some sweating during the day here and there with a kind of weird smell - not armpit stinky but off smelling and not sweating because I was hot, often I was actually chilly. Because I am a 50 year old woman it is easy to blame this on age but with the cryptolepis all of that went away. I think some of my pain may have been due to the babs as well since I noticed pain decrease quite noticeably too. When I first got sick, I had a month of night sweats, sometimes waking me 2-3 times a night that was so intense it left me exhausted. That calmed down to what I described above but continued for a year & a half straight until I took the cryptolepis. The lyme treatment didn't effect it what-so-ever.
