Lyme disease awareness it's all over the news

I live in Illinois where I was told we do not have Lyme disease last year. On all the news stations, and the Chicago paper they have articles about Lyme disease, and some even going into chronic Lyme disease.

I really feel that all this exposure is great for all of us suffering, they are talking about other states as well. I am really hoping a change will come for all of this, and we will all get the treatment we deserve.

I haven't been feeling well lately, the doctors have tried to tell me I have something else recently, (Leukemia) I don't buy the new diagnoses, and I made it very clear, I want to see proof, don't tell me what you think I may or may not have.

This week has been very rough, and I am waiting on blood work to come back hopefully today or tomorrow. As I told my husband whatever the outcome, we go after it the same way , we fight .

My thoughts are, if a doctor tell you , you this or that, ask for the paperwork, I myself want to see it , and I want to research it. I will never again go by a doctors gut feeling, because I am sorry a lot of the time they are wrong.

No matter what , we can never give up, we have to keep fighting, we are stronger than we think.

Sorry things aren't going well...

You are definitely right in not taking suggestions from drs as truths. We all know how many years can pass by like that, getting worse and worse.

I hope that the test results will eliminate Leukemia. I'll keep you in my thoughts, please let us know what the paperwork says.

We are indeed much stronger than we ever thought we would be!

I was just wondering how you are doing.. I am glad you posted.

It is great to hear of lyme exposure in other parts of the country. I feel I can't trust doctors either, other family medical problems again have confirmed my beliefs. Even what seems as obvious truths to laypeople appear to boggle their minds.

Please let us know how you are and keep up the fight!

I had went almost five weeks without seizures, then, they came back more powerful. The Lyme doctor suggest I see another LLMD, that I can't afford right now.

I am having lots of pain in my legs, I came off the doxy , now doing herbs again. I also am getting a electric sensation up and down my left arm, it's pretty painful.

I just saw a regular Md last week, she is doing my blood work, she is not against chronic Lyme disease so maybe she can help me, she is trying to.


I had to apply for disability because after working my whole life, and being on unemployment 6 months they have decided to cut my benefits by 16 percent. I thought by now I would be able to go back to work, but until the seizures are under control, and the pain, I can't.

My whole body still freezes up, and I fall down, this week was bad, have a nice little bump on my head, good thing I am hard headed. lol

I continue to fight, I only have state insurance now, just got it last week after having to prove three different times that I am a citizen. I started seeing a new MD, just because I can't afford the LLMD right now, and she doesn't know what else to really do with me.

We just have to keep fighting through it all, with all of this exposure, good things may come about.

I'm so sorry you've gotten worse again. I hope you get a doctor that will guide you to the help you need.

We have one small town newspaper here that does an article on Lyme each year, so us Lymies appreciate them for doing it.

Hi JustMe...I was thinking of you this week. Praying you were getting better...keep fighting girl!

Lyme was on NBC evening news and the nightly news. My friends were in awe...I told them, "Yes...Lyme is very real and scary!"

I'm praying for everyone on here and that total recovery comes our way and sooooooon!

I am really glad to see this however the intention behind it is worrisome. I think the CDC is trying to get lymies to 'think' that they won a victory. Which is okay but they haven't suggested anything that they are going to do about it either.

I hope this adds fuel to the fire if anything.

It's almost like the good days tease us, Like this is what your life could be , used to be, Should be.

I haven't had a good day, in a while, just been mostly pain, and seizures. I dream about the good days, about being able to go for a walk, not having to use a cane, or have pain in my legs.

I understand about friends not understanding, Heck , I have family that I haven't talked to in months because they said I was crazy, because one doctor said I needed mental help.

This is a big fight, this disease is not for the weak, because it will try you each day. I sure thought my life would be in a different place at 37, but I have to take it as it goes. I feel like my career is the last thing I need to worry about right now, I am fighting to live, fighting to survive, just like all of us with Lyme disease.

I hope we all have a great day soon, one filled with laughter instead of pain.

Justme, I admire your strength and fortitude. I can't wait for the day when we can hold our hands up in victory over this medical injustice. This just has to happen. It will only get worse and worse. This fight is really no different than other battles over social injustice. There is strength in numbers and I hope we can all make a stand saying "enough is enough". I too truly hope you and everyone else suffering from Lyme will soon find your days filled with laughter and joy instead of pain and suffering .

Hi Justme, I too live in the Chicago area, and yes, Lyme is here and it is infecting people. I have had the infection for just over a year and just recently found an LLMD that was willing to treat me.

I hope you get better soon.
