can tooth pain be a herx?

Right before vacation I had pain start up in my back molar, it might even be the joint as I'm not sure if it's a specific tooth. It's dull and throbbing. Because I was about to go on vacation I went to the dentist. They poked, tapped and took an Xray; nothing was wrong.

It's very intermittent and I'm starting to wonder if it's related to the Lyme. I don't want to get an root canal if I don't need it.

Have others had issues with jaw pain?

I just had the same problem! First it was general pain from the teeth on the top of my mouth. Three or four teeth were involved and I had general jaw pain. Then it shifted to one tooth and the pain was really bad. It lasted a couple days and now is completely gone. I did some reading and it seems that it can be from lyme. Some people had root canals or teeth pulled and they still had the pain.

I had just been to the dentist and had routine x-rays that were normal, so I really believed it was the lyme.

I hope it goes away soon, I rubbed rum on my gums and this helped!

The only alcohol I had was the rum from making a Cake last Christmas.

This morning no pain. It's so confusing but I am grateful for the better days. I also took an herbal muscle relaxer which tells me it's probably not my tooth.

LoveHealth, I too have suffered with occasional tooth pain as well as jaw pain due to Lyme/co-infections. In my case, it has been on both sides and most teeth. Like you, my dentist did not find anything abnormal with the nerve, root, or tooth itself, such as a cavity. He is unfamiliar with Lyme but was interested in learning more, which is good.

I have also noticed that since the infection, my teeth begin to hurt (overall numb mild discomfort) if I miss a meal. Perhaps something in my blood (sugar, minerals, who knows) gets low and this causes the hunger discomfort. The teeth do not hurt while chewing and the tooth discomfort from hunger goes away soon after eating.

As for the pain not associated with hunger, I find that using Listerine three times a day seems to work pretty good for me.

Yes, my strong teeth have deteriorated since I've had Lyme.  They are so much weaker and I do get occasional discomfort.

And yes, Listerine does help a great deal.  I use it before I go to bed, but Healing 98 is onto something by using Listerine.

I've started using the Young and Living Thieves mouthwash, it has essential oils and it should also be antibacterial. I'm hoping it helps

Hi, have you tried oil pulling for your teeth problems? I was getting terrible pain. I couldn't work out if it was my teeth, jaw, ear or throat. It has been much better since I started oil pulling.

You do it 1st thing in the morning, on an empty stomach. Put a tablespoon of coconut oil in your mouth and swill (not gargle as you don't want the toxins going down your throat) for 20 minutes. I had to build up to 20 minutes as the first few times made me gag!! I do it while I shower, or read a book or something to distract me.

After 20 mins, spit the oil into the bin (it can clog the sink/toilet), rinse your mouth and then brush your teeth really well.

It is rumoured to "pull" all the bacteria and debris away from your teeth, mouth and gums as well as helping to remove the build up of toxins in the area.

It sounds pretty strange, but done daily it really helps with the pain and clears sinuses. It also makes your teeth really white too, without having to use any toxic products, bonus!

The Thieves oil mouthwash worked. The pain has been gone now for a bit. I'm on to all new herxes now
