IL-8 extremely elevated

hi All,

I had a dr's appointment today. Need to lower the abx dose/herbals or go off for a while maybe (I am only on 1 abx at a time already) because Herxheimer reaction is too strong. He will now try everything to make me detox better (mthfr test was normal, but he still thinks there is a gene mutation blocking things for me) and I will have to increase the intake of herbals to bring down inflammation. I still need to receive the new protocol, so no details on that yet.

My question: is there anyone who has knowledge about IL-8 (Interleukin 8)? My levels are going through the roof (well, almost to another galaxy... range is between 0,00-15,00, I have 60.000, I can't believe it, but that's what he said, and repeated after I asked him again). I googled it, but I don't get the info I wanted. I was so blown away that I froze to ask questions about it. What damage can this do? I can't get through very scientific texts right now, I can't process it.

I will shovel those test results down the throat of the next person that rolls his/her eyes and says that I don't look sick or insinuates that it's not all that bad...  devil

Hi,

It is one of the body's immune responses to inflammation. I did read an article awhile ago that said theaflavin which is a black tea should help lower the levels. Curcumin is a spice that also helps.

If I find more I'll let you know.

thank your for replying, that's about what I know about it, except for the teaflavin, I didn't know that - thank you, I'll try everything that could help bringing that 60.000 down.

I'm curious about the effects of such high titers on long term? if it has a connection with cancer, since I have a history... I'm a bit worried about that.

Could hit myself in the head for being so overwhelmed during the appointment.

Yes, elevated IL-8 may be involved with cancer, but is also involved with inflammation (infection).

IL-8 may be part of your histamine problem, as it stimulates histamine release from mast cells. Have you been tested for a mast cell disorder?

I assume you are eating gluten-free?

I haven't been tested for mast cell disorder. This is the first time I hear about a disorder. I had a quick look on the internet... have you got any experience with this?

 

I put the results of all my tests in a spreadsheet, so that I can see how things evolve in time.

 

February 2010: IL-8 was at 48 - this was when I had my first appointment with my dr

February 2012: IL-8 was at 561,70 - this was after I got on the histamine diet for about 1,5 years, treated for leaky gut, gotten on GC-maf for a long while.

end of July 2013 (results I just got this week): IL-8 at 60.000, this was after a 6 month break off abx because of what he said to be an overall inflammation, had just started Ketek for 2 weeks.

It is strange that this titer is still that extreme after months of treatment against inflammation and off abx. I noticed though that I can't controll my histamine diet as before, it is as if it doesn't have the effect like before.

 

I'm eating almost gluten-free. I feel no change whatsoever if I go entirely gluten-free. I know I need to focuss on that, but there is so much to think about...

Complete panel and new protocol came in today...

IL-10 serum - within range

IL12p70 serum - 0, within range

IL1beta serum - 539,00 (range 0,00-3,00)

IL-6 serum - 932,00 (range 0,00-5,00)

IL-8 serum - 60.104,00 (range 0,00-15,00)

MCP1 - 4.736,00 (range 0,00-165,00)

MIP-1beta serum - 2.815,00 (range 0,00-155,00)

activated TGF-BETA1 serum - 10.930,00 (within range of 1674,00-12.400,00)

TNF serum - 19,39 (range 0,00-6,00)

CD57 - 28

Prostaglandine E2 - 11,56 (range 0,10-2,81) - has gone down from almost 20 last time, thanks to Zyflamend, Berberine, Omega3 and aspirin for months

like the dr said: cutting back abx - for now only 200mg doxy per day, for 2 months

Sporanox, glutathion, resveratrol, omega3, b12, antihistamine, clonazepam, diclofenac, pantoprazole, Zyflamend.

Razzle, what is your experience with mast cell disorders? have you been tested and what happened next?

He has written that I did a very severe Herxheimer reaction.

At the appointment he told me he was going to do something about the detoxing problem (I tested normal on the MTHFR mutation, so there is no problem there), but I see nothing about that on the protocol, the only things he hadn't given me in the past are sporanox (itraconazole) and diclofenac. I just read that Sporanox helps suppressing the lyme spirochetes, or is it for a fungal infection?

Can a fungal infection prevent me from detoxing?

Honestly, I'm a bit lost... I will add some things to the protocol myself, like turmeric and ginger.

Can you take Rose Hip capsules?

They are brilliant for detoxing the skin as well as being a great form of vitamin C, just a thought.

I will try them (put them on my first overseas order). I used to put oil of Rose Hip on my skin, good for eczema and very dry skin.
