Help! Big time intestinal problems

Hi to all,

This is my 5th day with mucousy/bloody diarrhea.  I am having terrible lower abdominal pain and 'going' to the bathroom about 30 times a day.  My LLMD said I am sensitive to meds and told me to stop the Bactrim and supplements for now and to up my S. Boulardi and take Acidophilus.  I also take one hundred billion of Therbiotics.  I think I would have gone to the ER today but there is no way I can make it there with constant bathroom problems.  I do have a call into my LLMD but doubt he will call on a Sunday.  Anyway, I am wondering if anyone else has or has heard of others having this same problem and what did they do for it.  If this continues I know I will have to have a colonoscopy but for the life of me I don't think I can handle that at the moment.  Also, any thoughts on herbal remedies for this problem.

Patty you need to get to the emergency room. Try to get something that wont leak. You could also call 911 if you are having difficulty mobilizing. Good luck and God bless.

Are you able to hold down fluids ? Take water and/or electrolytes bc you can become dehydrated.

You do need to get this to stabilize and being a Sunday the ER is your best bet.

Once it's stabilized look at Haritaki which is an herbal supplement that really helps the digestive track.

I hope you find relief soon.

You may have triggered UC (Ulcerative Colitis) or Crohns or another issue with the meds you've been taking. Please don't "try" any thing until you find out what is going on.

If you are unable to hold down fluids, then you must get to the Emergency room!!!

If you are able to hold down fluids, make sure that they are things that are good for you/are easy on the digestive tract. Even Gatorade - since it has electrolytes would be good. It does have sugar, but you need to be concerned with your immediate health right now - Lyme takes a back seat until you get this under control in my opinion.

I'm with the others Patty, if possible please go to the ER - 5 days of heavy diarrhea is too much...

Severe dehydration is very dangerous shakehead

Patty I am sorry this is happening to you and I think that you should go to the emergency room. If you can after you have seen a doctor find some coconut water it helps to re-hydrate and has natural electrolytes. It is better than Gatorade and is all natural, get the kind without added sugar. I get mine on Amazon I use the TASTE NIRVANA REAL COCONUT WATER. It is one of the only things that i enjoy ever since all my food allergies developed and my stomach became so sensitive and uncomfortable. Again, sorry this is happening but seeing a doctor is the priority to get yourself back in order.

Another vote for the ER, as well as get fluids with electrolytes. Water with sea salt and lemon perhaps.

Make sure to ask about C. Diff ! It is a very nasty infection that can be caused by certain antibiotic use and can cause some of your symptoms. If you have it you will likely be prescribed flagyl or vancomycin.

I can't take bactrim, too hard on my stomach. I agree with asking about c did. Treatlyme.net had a good video about it. Take care!

Thanks for all the replies. I should have stated that I am having small amounts of sometimes soft-formed stools mixed with blood and mucous or just the blood and mucous. No diarrhea since day 1. I am running a low grade temp of 100.2 and the bowel movements have just about stopped for the last few hours. there has been no problem holding down fluids. I know I have to do something tomorrow. Something is definitely going on and I certainly wouldn't be surprised if the Bactrim caused this stupid problem. I had a bad bout of diarrhea a little over a month ago which stopped once I got off Mepron and clindamycin. I worried that it was c-diff but evidentally not?

Drink some pickle juice or eat salty foods. You have to be getting dehydrated.

How are you doing today, Patty? Have you been in to see the doc - any doc? If so what did they have to say?
