Thanks for all the replies, they really offer a lot of help and insight.
I did originally think it was based around my menstrual cycle, but that started to slowly dwindle around three years ago, and I haven't had a period in a year and a half now. When it all go to be too much is when I started looking more into my diet. Thats what got me to go to school and study Nutrition and Wellness. I was grain, soy, dairy and sugar free for a year, and once I was diagnosed with the Hypothyroid, I tried adding grains back in and thats when everything escalated. All of the constipation came back, the binge eating and fat craving, acne, severe joint pain (I had almost forgotten about the joint pain and how severe it was until it came back), irritability and the foggy thoughts. It was like I added fuel to flame.
So I immediately went back on the grain free, soy free, sugar free and dairy free diet. I have also taken out all tree nuts and yeast, because they elevate all the symptoms too. I actually said to my partner the other night that when I do not eat, I feel amazing. The second I eat something I feel sick. Therefore I just started eating the foods that make me feel better. Avocado, greens, chickpea miso soup (Miso paste derived from chickpeas, not soy), cooked in lots of garlic, ginger and turmeric (either fresh or powder) and coconut oil. I eat eggs and fish occasionally as well, but all organic free range and wild caught (I have an advantage working at a Whole Foods.) I slowly weened into this diet plan, and it takes a lot of patience and planning, but I notice I feel a lot better in my stomach after I eat. After I eat anything else, I get cold, my stomach extends to make me look bloated and like I am pregnant, and I cannot go to the bathroom. I also feel like I am going to jump out of my skin.
I asked my Dr to run tests on food sensitivities, but she says that with my hormones imbalanced right now that they wouldn't be accurate. I have to wait. It makes me wonder if the Lyme has caused all these food intolerances as well.
Eating all these foods is not only cleansing, but a lot of the foods I am eating actually heighten the die off like Traveler said. I wonder if this is why I am feeling the Herx so much? I also don't even know what to think anymore because certain times of the month I can eat anything and feel fine, then when the monthly flare comes back I can barely eat. Another member mentioned that I need to remember on the good days that there are bad days too. This reminds me to stick with my plan while I feel good as well an not jump back into life full force so quickly.
I know I have written a lot, but back to the pattern. I get the monthly flare ups, but it everything REALLY seems to heighten every year at the end of August and throughout September into early November. I have been undiagnosed for years and have had these symptoms since I was 12 years old (I am now 29) and every year I get sick with the flu in early August and then BAM all my symptoms flare out of control.
Im so confused with everything.
Again! Thank you for all your replies, you have no idea how much it helps. Hope you're all enjoying the amazing fall weather wherever you're located.
