Taking a teaspoon or so of local honey each day can also help prevent/lessen seasonal allergies. My grandma would swear by this and I have to say to for me, it has always seemed to support her perspective as I'm never bothered by any seasonal allergies - no matter where we've lived, traveled to, etc. Her perspective was that the since the bees are gathering pollen from the LOCAL area, when you ingest in the honey each day, it's like a "vaccination"- your body is getting the very spores that will help prevent those same spores (in the air) from being seen by your body as "alien" and thus, needing to mount a defense (sneezing, runny eyes, etc) against. So, yes, I take a teaspoon each morning after I do my juicing. I figure it can't hurt!
Kathleen, your Grandma was right!! That concept is what Homeopathy is based on! I too use local honey for seasonal allergies - I'm terribly allergic to ragweed and cotton trees - but ever since I started using our local honey on a daily basis, I don't have anything more than a slightly stuffy nose when they are in bloom!!
