One thing we did was to pay the LLMD with a cash back credit card.
We payed this off with a low-rate line of credit and rolled the line of credit back into our mortgage when it came due.
Now with the extra money we have from not seeing the LLMD quite so much, we are making extra payments into the mortgage which goes straight back to the principle.
Please be aware that an ID doctor will follow CDC/IDSA guidelines for testing and treatment. The CDC lyme tests are not as comprehensive as IGENEX testing by a knowledable LLMD, and the results are interpreted differently.
Reaction to any one of the lyme-specific bands (antibodies to borrelia are the only cause for the reactivity of these bands, weakly or strongly) are not considered as positive proof of infection by the CDC/IDSA. The CDC requires a reaction on many bands for a diagnosis. The IDSA will likely not consider testing for coinfections (bartonella, babesia, ehrlichia, RMSF, mycoplasma). These coinfections can cause more symptoms/problems than the lyme actually will.
