Hi there,

I have taken two relatively small doses of Zithromax (250mg) along with Ceftin and my usual family of herbs tinctures etc over two days and the Z seems sent me completely mad.

Not only have I felt terrible, depressed to the point of suicidal and tearful, I've also felt furious and incredibly anxious. This doesn't feel like a herx but more like a bad response to the antibiotic.

Has anybody else responded to Z like this? I've emailed my doctor and stopped taking it since I'm just too miserable and helpless.

Hi Fiona,

Azithromycin makes me feel like I want to crawl in a hole under the ground. It makes me herx so bad and makes me feel very depressed and lost.

There's not much more that I can say, besides that I would probably refuse it  if my dr prescribed it one more time - lol.

What did your dr respond on your email?

Not heard back. Relieved to know I'm not alone. It absolutely made me suicidal. Is there anything you can take in it's place?

Are you getting it for Bartonella or for Lyme? I think I had all the possible combinations in the book... lol

Sorry to hear about the depression Fiona. I am one to tough it through the storm but if it is making you suicidal I would really recommend changing the meds. Perhaps you could add another herb in for positive emotions? I use echinacea and it always alters my mood positively. I needed a lot of it though - 3 cups of tea/day minimum.

Biaxin/Clarithromycin may be a good alternative for azithromycin.
