Doxycycline on an empty stomach? or with food?

Doxycycline on an empty stomach came right back up, but taken after a light meal stayed down. However my dr. said that was not useful, as too little med would get into my blood. He is not LL. What advice do you all have? I have taken two courses of amox. and still have symptoms.

Take it with food. Better to get it in then not to at all.

The advice to take Doxy on an empty stomach is old. It is best to take Doxy in the middle of a meal and do not lie down within an hour after (or the pill can reflux up and damage the esophagus - very painful!).

Especially if you are going to be on abx for awhile it is recommended to always take it with food to protect your stomach a little bit.

The one thing you want to avoid is milk or anything high in calcium as it can inhibit absorption of the drug!

I took it without food for 2 weeks and got gastritis that I still have to this day! I take it with food now only.
