Hi, I've been diagnosed with Lyme and Bart, and have been on treatment for about
7 weeks. I've always been an easy bruiser, but lately I've been noticing more, they look darker than usual, and they don't hurt at all.
Could this be from the medication, or part of a herx? I feel my health anxiety coming back, and can't stop my mind from thinking I should go get checked for leukemia(I've had plenty of blood work this year, and all normal, but haven't had any drawn since Aug.).
Should I be concerned, or is this something others here have experienced?
Thanks!

Is it possible that you are on something - natural or pharmaceutical- that is thinning your blood?
Many of us have what is termed as 'thick blood' while we have these diseases, so we need to be on things that increase the micro circulation in order for the meds to reach all the right places and to just increase our circulation to our extremities.

I'm on minocycline, fish oil, vit B complex, C, D, milk thistle, probiotics, and nystatin, supposed to be on teasel, but haven't fit that one in yet...I have to start taking it, I'm just feeling pretty good, and I wanted to enjoy that for a little bit since I know teasel will probably cause a herx :).
Maybe my blood is thinner...the pressure has subsided in my head for the most part, and I don't feel like passing out every time I stand anymore...maybe because the blood's getting to my brain easier now? I notice a lot of capillaries in the bruises too...like a burst blood vessel kind of, but I don't think any of the things I'm on are stated to thin blood.

You sure you don't have ehlers danlos?

I don't think so. My skin seems strong.

Fish oil can thin the blood a tiny bit... but no, I don't think anything you mentioned is particularly well-known for thinning the blood.
It might be worthwhile to mention this to your Lyme doc if you can...it is possible that the bruising may be from a side-effect of a medication, a nutritional imbalance, one of the infections, a herx, or even something unrelated to Lyme...

I agree with Razzle.
I do know that I went through this for a while as well, but it did clear up with treatment. I looked horrible for a while though!

I think bruising has always been one of my symptoms...I was just looking at pictures from 10/15/20 years ago, and I have the same bruised looking shins as I have now...although these are a little darker...but anyway, I'm going with herx since it got worse since starting treatment. I will ask my Dr about
it.
You're right Traveler, they look horrible...I was thinking I'm going to need to hide my legs, but after my trip down memory lane, it looks as though I should've been hiding them for years, so why start now :)
Thanks for the help guys!

Hi Soover this. I had experienced very easy bruising and the treatment was causing bruising I thought. The ND put me on a REALLY high dose of Vitamin B by Pure Encapsulations. Within 1.5 weeks my bruising was gone. I'm still on vitamin B but a much lower dose by I think 20 fold at this point.
What is your vitamin B dosage right now?

I converted this to what I was taking and it ended up being this per day
Thiamine (B1) 4mg 400%
Riboflavin 5' phosphate (activated B2) 4mg 352%
Niacinamide (B3) 10mg 75%
Pyridoxine HCl (B6) 5mg 375%
Vitamin B12 (formulated with methylcobalamin) 500mcg 12500%
Pantothenic acid (calcium pantothenate)(B5) 10mg 150%
