Hi all,
I don't know anyone who went to Sponaugle (I do know several people who went to the Hansa Clinic in Kansas and had great results but only because they made changes to their lives when they went home and stuck with them). The bottom line is what Traveler is saying which I agree with.
Once a person leaves any clinic or wellness center, if they don't dedicate themselves to daily detoxing, change their diet, learn how to deal with the stress points in their lives, etc., etc., then I see no point in even going to any of these clinics and wasting one's money. I have been well for 8 years now (some would call me cured) but I prefer healed. I did follow Dr. Jernigan's protocol from his book (never went to Hansa) but I believe the reasons why I have been well and stayed well was not only did I take Dr. J's botanicals (that was the easy part) but I learned about detoxing which I still continue to do as I believe we live in a toxic world.
I also changed my diet and still avoid certain foods that I know are bad for me (lyme or no lyme). I continue to use my infrared sauna (it's a portable one) and I dry skin brush my body almost every day.
Lowering my stress levels was more difficult for me to do but I did it and even moved to another state because I found Vermont more calming compared to the "almost" city life I used to live in that was stressful for me.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that I looked at the "big picture" and little by little analyzed it so I could be as healthy as possible, mind, body, spirit.... Something a clinic can not do.
Again, I believe one must address all aspects of their life in order to heal and stay healed and it does take dedication as well as discipline. If one expects to go to one of these clinics and expect to be cured, in my opinion, they are fooling themselves. It simply does not work that way. Once that person comes home and if they go back to the way they were living before going, it's a total waste of everything.
My suggestion is to first educate oneself by reading books such as Stephen Buhner's "Healing Lyme" and Dr. David Jernigan's book "Beating Lyme Disease" and then make an educated decision. These books explain so much!
Just my thoughts,
Denise
