I just noticed that I am 6 days late..
I am fearing that I might be pregnant! Although I have been trying very hard to prevent this, this month it is possible.
I am very scared.
If I am will I have to stop treatment? And what would this mean for the baby?

Awww...Thats wonderful smilewinkgrin   If you are, just wanted to let you know my husbands coworker's wife has lyme and they are on their 7th child!! She has been infected since their 5th and she takes Amoxicillin while she is pregnant. Seems to be safe for her and babies...I would check with Dr C. though. Prayers your way!!

Hi HallieMae, Congrats if its true. There are a few mommies on her who had successful pregnancies. Yes many did tak amoxicillin as it is mild and safe for both. Good luck.

There is always a risk that those who get pregnant while in treatment for Lyme can pass it on to their children -even while in treatment, but that doesn't mean that it's a sure thing that the child will be infected!

I didn't know I was infected when I had my children, so I wasn't in treatment, but they still managed to not have Lyme or any other tick-borne infections!

So if you are pregnant, CONGRATULATIONS!!! Be sure to stay in treatment!

HallieMae - this is wonderful news if you're correct!! Yes, do your research, from what I understand the baby only has a 0 to 2% chance of contracting it if your on 2 antibiotics and a 25% chance if your only on one.

My LLMD's daughter recently have birth (after being treated for Lyme). She was on 1 antibiotic.

Does anyone know how to prevent the Bartonella from being passed on? My LLMD said there's really nothing to prevent that - that's what I'm nervous about because I'm ready to start trying SOON!!

Your doc is right - from what I've found, there is no way to stop the baby from getting these infections if the situation is right for it to be passed.

The best you can hope for is to wait until you have no symptoms, then stay on, or get on the right meds at the right doses if you get pregnant and shows any signs of symptoms returning.

Be sure to save the cord blood though - it can be tested for these diseases and more if you are interested!

Congrats if you are. I have had chronic lyme for 15 years now. I have two beautiful daughters. 5 and 1 and they are perfectly healthy. I couldn't take antibiotics during my pregnancies because I had extreme morning sickness and couldn't keep anything down. I know there is always a risk, but they assured me that the risk was low. My girls are so smart, beautiful and healthy. Try not to worry.
