I'm very sorry you feel so desperate soscared...
like vcast, I myself have not been hired, in none of my jobs, because of my degree, but only because of my experience and because of people knowing me. Have you got any references you can use?
I'm in Belgium, but husband and I had so much financial pressure, I honestly don't need that extra stress... I felt that clock ticking... He had been fired (because of the crisis) one and a half year ago, before that, there were no long term contracts, just temporary jobs. He applied so many times, hardly got any response, found no job. So we had to live and pay my treatment from my income only. This was the last month we could manage without having to put ourselves in big trouble, I have had months that I couldn't get all the expensive supplements my dr prescribed me, I told him to put the blood tests on a hold, only the really necessary ones. And guess what? Husband signed a contract just 10 days ago. It's not a high profile job, but we are so so happy about this.
It's like our prayers have been heard... Don't get too desperate, there still is time, you will get lucky, please try thinking of that.
Hold on...
